Job Introduction

Are you fascinated about Space? Do you have a strong background in VMware Infrastructure based on vSphere and have worked with Exchange, File Cluster, Active Directory and etc. You could be our new Windows Server and vSphere Operations Engineer.  Come and join talented diverse Serco team at the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) based in Darmstadt, Germany.

Main Responsibilities

As Windows Server and vSphere Operations Engineer you shall operate, maintain and monitor the following Microsoft Windows Servers:

  • Exchange;
  • File Cluster;
  • Print Server;
  • FTP Server;
  • Active Directory;

You shall further operate and maintain the VMware Infrastructure based on vSphere.
The activities include:

  • Troubleshoot Exchange email tickets and following up with users;
  • Troubleshoot mail flow and resolve tickets first level support cannot resolve;
  • Create new certificates or renew certificates based on Internal PKI and external Certificate Authority;
  • Setup Single Sign On (SSO) for new services and troubleshoot SSO issues using ADFS and SAML;
  • Regularly patch Windows and VMware servers;
  • Update VMware tools on Windows Servers on VMware;
  • Liaise with external service providers and if necessary escalate 3rd level incidents;

Successful Candidate

In addition to having a University degree in the engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science (or similar) domains the key person shall have the following mandatory attributes, skills, and experience in an operational environment:

  • Five years of experience in:
    • Exchange Server 2013 and above operations
    • Windows Server 2012 R2 and above deployment
    • Group-Policy administration
    • Active-Directory authentication troubleshooting
    • VMWare Vcenter 6.5 and above operations
    • VMWare VDI Horizon operations
  • Two years of experience following ITIL best practices
  • One year of experience working at an English speaking company or organisation

Desirable Attributes, Skills and Experience

  • Kemp Load balancer knowledge
  • MCSA in Windows Server 2012 R2 or later.
  • Microsoft Exchange 2013 certification. (MCITP or MCSE)
  • VMWare related certifications
  • Office 365 / Azure
