Job Introduction

Serco offers space capability across the full space lifecycle from satellite testing to Launch services, LEOP to spacecraft operations, space surveillance to data management, and supporting downstream application development.
With this in mind, we are seeking European-based Technical Writers that will be responsible for developing elements of bid-winning solutions for the European Space division. You would contribute to the development of valuable propositions that meet our customers’ requirements, leading to successful outcomes.
You would have the chance to work and win on large and medium sized bids and proposals throughout our Space business, while working side-by-side with our teams of Operational Leads, Subject Matter Experts, Bid Directors, Bid Managers and many “horizontal” resources, third-party organizations such as supply chain partners or specialist suppliers.

Main Responsibilities

As Space Technical Writer you will be responsible for:
- Supporting individual bid teams in the production of winning responses;
- Owning the creation of storyboards and supporting Subject Matter Experts in completing them/ensuring they are adhered to throughout bid development;
- Working with technical and commercial colleagues to extract information and ‘interpret’ technical/financial solutions;
- Creating high-quality responses that are well-written, accurate and concise;
- Working with the graphic design team to produce visually engaging documents;
- Incorporating win themes, USPs, case studies etc. into responses, with the objective of scoring maximum points against the customer’s evaluation criteria;
- Conducting research to supplement bid responses;
- Collation and presentation of data to support governance meetings where required;
- Support Bid Managers and wider bid teams with ad hoc tasks as required;
- Lead the writing activity on a daily basis, supporting junior colleagues and SMEs within operational teams.
Successful Candidate
Your skills:
- Ability to deliver high-quality written work under the pressure of tight deadlines;
- Ability to grasp and assimilate complex information quickly and apply creative intellect;
- Methodical, process-driven and organised approach with excellent attention to detail;
- Experience of template creation and document editing;
- Highly proficient with MS Office and relevant tools (Adobe etc.);
- Excellent English is essential – proficiency in French, Dutch and/or German a significant advantage.
Technical
- Understanding of ICT technologies and solutions
- Work experience in the Space domain will be an asset
- MSc, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant technical or scientific discipline will be an asset

- Effective management of self with track record of involvement in change in complex and demanding environments, interacting with individuals at all levels of the organisation
- Methodical and proactive, with initiative and capability to work autonomously
- Problem-solving and creativity-oriented attitude
- Excellent communication skills, including relationship development and stakeholder management

Rome's central location in Italy offers excellent transportation links within the city and across the country. The city is well-connected by a network of highways and railways, with Ciampino Airport or Fiumicino, providing convenient access to international destinations.
