Software Developer - Space Sector

We are hiring a Software Developer - Space Sector in Prague. Are you willing to move to CZ Republic? We offer you a relocation package!

Serco Czech Republic recently opened an office in Prague, where the company already provides Operations and Evolution of Data Access and User Support Services to the European Space Agency as part of a Serco-led consortium. Furthermore, it provides support services to the newly set up European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). 

The services will be provided as part of a consortium led by Alpha Consult, of which Serco in Italy is a sub-contractor.  EUSPA mission is to be the user-oriented operational Agency of the European Union Space Programme. 

As part of this contract, Serco and its partners will provide services facilitating market development and contributing to implement the EUSPA strategy addressing all Space Programme components, offering operational support for Galileo, Copernicus and GOVSATCOM user uptake and coordination. The consortium will also support the development of downstream applications.

Role Responsibility

As Software Developer - Space Sector you will be responsible for:

  • Software development to support Serco service contracts.
  • Software maintenance.
  • Software configuration control and Software installation kit creation and packaging.
  • AIV activity.
  • Software Engineering Support (e.g. anomaly investigation)
  • Technical and Project documentation review and editing
  • Support during regular meetings and audit
  • Generation of service and progress reports

Successful Candidate

Technical skills:

  • Good knowledge in Linux Operating Systems (e.g. RedHat, CentOS ...)
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux shell scripting
  • Expert in Java programming language
  • Expert in Python programming language
  • Good knowledge of PHP programming language
  • Good knowledge of Automation softwares (e.g. Ansible, Puppet ...)
  • Good Knowledge of influxDB, postgresDB
  • Good Knowledge of Apache and Tomcat
  • Knowledge of network principles (firewalls, proxies etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Good writing skills for issuing technical documentation as notes, minutes of meetings, requirements, work specifications, architecural designs
  • Experience with configuration management, change control and release management.

Personal Skill:

  • Fluent in English Language (both written and spoken)
  • Good communications skills
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Result-oriented mindset
  • Ability to complete complex task autonomously with minimal guidance
  • Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones
  • Capacity of working under pressure
  • Proactive problem solving attitude
  • Ability to work in a team and to share and acquire knowledge
  • Willingness to travel abroad for short-term periods

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 Yrs experience in Java programming
  • At least 2 Yrs experience in Python programming

Preferable:

  • English Certification (≥ B1)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of service/operations best practices (ITIL), management and processes. 
  • Technical Certifications are an asset
