Main Responsibilities

As NETWORK ENGINEERING SUPPORT FOR EGNOS IMPLEMENTATION AND EVOLUTIONS you will concentrate your activities on the following:

Task 1 – Follow Industry activities for the development of TWAN (Transport Wide Area
Network), ELAN (EGNOS Local Area Network) and FEEs (Front End Equipment), in
the frame of tasks allocated to EPO (e.g.: EGNOS V3, EGNOS Next, African SBAS,
…);
• Task 2 – Participate in the coordination of network related activities inside ESA’s EPO
team (product assurance, safety, system engineering, security, operations), support
the TWAN and ELAN Subsystem leadership in front of Industry.
• Task 3 – Support the monitoring of events, functionality and performance of the
network;
• Task 4 – In the network domain, support as necessary Project level reviews;
• Task 5 – In the network domain, support the project procurement activities:
Contribution to the preparation of SoWs or Change Requests, assessment of Change
Notices;
• Task 6 - Contribution to the network subsystem specifications, tasks and operations
definition;
• Task 7 – Subsystem Acceptance. Support to the acceptance of EGNOS sites
(SDATs), with respect to the network aspects and the preparation of on-site IVQ
activities;
• Task 8 – Reporting to NAV-PRD Head of Section the status of EGNOS network
activities. Support to progress meetings with Industry and ESA internal team
coordination.

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science, with proven knowledge and experience in the fields of Networking.
  • Fluent English language (oral and written);
  • Fluent in French language (oral and written) is desirable;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • High senses of rigour, proactive and pragmatic attitude to solving problems;
  • Autonomy in writing technical notes, specifications and reports in English;
  • Good inter personal skills;
  • Good knowledge of DOORs;
  • Organization ability and result oriented;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, interpersonal, negotiation and telephone
    communications) are crucial;
  • Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe.

Specific skills:

  •  Proven experience in network configuration and architecture, TCP/IP protocols, firewalls, switch configuration, Network Security, VPN.
  • Experience on Ground Segment elements and network deployment and qualification.
  • Knowledge of security domain, security design best practices, security accreditation process. Experience on Physical and IT security.
  • Knowledge of the field of Navigation would be an advantage.
  • Experience with industrial procurement, development and conduction of reviews.
  • Experience in ESA procurement processes and contract management is an asset.
  • Experience in projects in Equatorial and Western African region will be an advantage.
  • Previous working experience in a multinational environment.
  • Able to obtain EU Security clearance.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
