EO Data Processing Engineer

Role Responsibility

As EO Data Processing Engineer (Service Value Chain) you will be involved in activities relevant to the Italian PNRR initiatives within the downstream services. The position entails responsibility for supporting the development and operations of high-quality processors able to generate added-value products to meet the needs of end-users and contribute to the success of the organization.

Main Tasks:

  • Providing technical support for downstream applications and high-level EO products generation, identifying requirements and addressing technical problems.
  • Researching, diagnosing and troubleshooting for improving processing performances and solve operational issues.
  • Prioritize multiple open issues.
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical documentation including System Design Documents and Technical Notes.
  • Supporting software integration activities.
  • Supporting the review of data packages during operations reviews;
  • Supporting the implementation of End-to-End solutions for operational systems, considering initial requirement analysis.
  • Support the verification and the validation of the End-to-End processing chain onto cloud environments.
  • Interfacing with other technical teams, stakeholders and end-users.

Successful Candidate

Your skills:

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
•    Experience in remote sensing application domains, in particular related to Sentinel-2, Landsat, but also to other optical and SAR missions;
•    Good knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats;
•    Good knowledge of Programming languages (e.g. Python, etc.);
•    Working experience with container-based applications and Cloud deployments;
•    Writing technical documentation (e.g., Interface Control Document, System Design Document, Validation & Verification Plan, etc.)
•    Knowledge of ticketing management
•    Pro-active problem solving attitude
•    English Level B1 (Intermediate), written and spoken
OTHER SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
•    Knowledge of Copernicus programme;
•    Knowledge of remote sensing algorithms;
•    Critical thinking and self-organization skills. 
•    Good technical and analytical skills;
•    Good time management skills;
•    Knowledge of containers environment and deployment (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
