To reinforce our team at one of our prestigious customers in Luxembourg, we are currently looking for an Application Packager.
Main Responsibilities
Task description
· Development and maintenance of installation and deployment scripts for software applications (Windows Installer - MSI, LANDesk).
· Virtualisation and packaging of software applications (Microsoft App-V).
· Maintenance of a repository that collects all the information regarding scripts and developments that have been delivered to production.
· Supporting of software distribution systems (this can require the development of specific procedures and tools to facilitate the distribution).
· Provide support for the developed scripts and App-V packages across the Commission's computing environment (problem diagnosis, resolution and reporting via the Central Help Desk).
· Providing support with the development and 2nd level support of reference configurations (desktop, laptop, hybrid mobile devices, smartphone, media tablet, server, remote desktop server).
· Creation of product evaluation studies (e.g. concerning product evaluations or the deployment of applications).
· Development of technical documentation (compilation of user guides, documentation of procedures etc.).
· Project management:
-problem understanding, specifications, flowcharts
- program analysis, development, testing and maintenance (to
create installations scripts and related utilities)
- preparation of project descriptions, functional specifications, technical specifications.
- writing technical documentation
- activity management and reporting
- team management
- reengineering / tuning of the development process flow
Successful Candidate
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary-school Training in IT institute (3-year program) certified by a Bachelor's diploma or equivalent would be an asset
- 4 years of experience as Application Packager + 3 year degree in IT
OR 10 years of relevant experience
Knowledge and skills:
· Proven experience in the abovementioned tasks is essential
· Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems family (Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 8.x, Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2008 R2, and Windows Phone)
· Knowledge of iOS
· Knowledge of Android
· Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VPN), Windows networking and the Active Directory (Group Policies etc.)
· Knowledge of the MS Office 2010 and 2013 suites
· Knowledge of Windows installation and deployment tools
· Familiarity with software distribution tools (e.g. LANDesk)
· Knowledge of application virtualisation and the Microsoft App-V technology
· Knowledge of the Microsoft installation technologies (e.g. MSI) and of related tools (e.g. InstallShield)
· Expertise in software production and management and in software documentation and reporting
· Familiarity with common Microsoft scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, VBscript, WSH) and with common programming languages (e.g. C++, C#, VB.NET, etc ..)
· Knowledge of software repository systems (e.g. Visual SourceSafe)
· Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, POSIX/SUS V3 and open source software
· Good interpersonal relations skills
Optional Specific Expertise:
· Proven experience with the Microsoft App-V technology
· Experience of software distribution systems, in particular
· Experience of software development in high-level programming
languages
· Proven experience in SharePoint management or/and programming.
· Certification of ITIL for service delivery and service support
· Technical presentation skills
· Microsoft Certified Solution Developer status, MCSE (or
equivalent)
