Main Responsibilities

To support our team at our client, the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an Antenna and passive RF Engineer for satellite ground stations.

  • Support to projects development, in terms of definition of technical specifications and statement of work, participation for design review as well as participation to factory and site acceptance tests
  • Participation in the definition, execution and evaluation of predevelopment studies by Industrial Contractors, related to ground stations antennas and passive RF components
  • Support in the definition of requirements for ground stations antennas and passive RF components, and participation in preliminary prototype and bread boarding activities
  • Monitoring and critical evaluation of activities related to large antennas and passive RF components development by Industrial Contractors
  • Engineering maintenance and enhancement of antennas and passive RF systems
  • Monitoring under ESA responsibility of development / procurement activities contracted to external industries; this includes engineering analysis, participation to reviews and meetings, participation to Factory and Site Acceptance Tests etc.
  • Engineering support to corrective maintenance tasks, for problem requiring specific technical background in antennas and RF passive components
  • Engineering support to Satellite ground stations antennas and related RF equipment preventive maintenance tasks;
  • Engineering support to operations

Successful Candidate

  • This service requires a person with University (or similar) degree in telecommunications engineering or physics, possibly with a specialisation in geometrical antennas design
  • A good professional experience in large antennas (10m and above) is required as well

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of the following:

  • Beam waveguide systems, including solid and dichroic mirrors
  • Feeds, diplexers and filters
  • RF test engineering to carry out advanced tests of passive RF equipment in the frequency range up to 40 GHz
  • ESOC ground segment elements
  • GRASP package
  • PC based MS tools

 

The candidate shall be also

  • fluent in English, both in speech and writing.
  • a good team-player.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Available to accept relatively long (up to 2-3 wks) and relatively frequent (several per year, depending on the operational needs) missions to the ESTRACK sites
