​We are hiring an Windows Engineer  for our European Institutions for IT services across in Luxembourg

Windows Engineers are part of the third level support for the Institution Windows Client Support team. Engineers must demonstrate technical competence, maintain, and manage critical infrastructure/systems and ensure the highest level of availability, performance, and security.

Windows Engineers shall cooperate closely with counterparties from IT and the business and be in direct contact with the service desk (1st& 2ndline of support) and other IT teams, notably in the area of integration, development, infrastructure, servers, storage, network, backup, Databases.  Moreover, they shall work closely with the IT Security Unit.

Role Responsibility

As Windows Engineer you will be responsible for:

This role will also be called upon to assist application developers and all operational teams.  The non-exhaustive list of Tasks and responsibilities as well as technical and specific skills / experience is shown below.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Focus on the daily operations related to all managed technologies, fulfil all service requests.
  • Focus on the proper maintenance and upgrades to assure up-to-date versions of all managed solutions.
  • Focus   on   continuous   improvement, automation   and   keeping   systems   running   with   optimal effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure that projects and processes are managed with high quality and that solutions are designed and implemented in line with internal standards and procedures, security recommendations/requirements and industry standards are respected.
  • Manage the resolution of IT incidents following Institution internal KPIs.
  • Plan, prepare,  test and implement changes following all internal process such as release management, change management;
  • Play a key role in troubleshooting incidents (including indicators or precursors) in a timely manner, and coordinate changes between internal infrastructure teams and development teams.
  • Address all security findings, vulnerabilities and implementing changes in the configuration to improve security posture (hardening of client & servers);
  • Document processes and procedures and keep relevant infrastructure documentation up to date.
  • Provide assistance in guiding users in formulating requirements, provide advice on alternative courses of action and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Assess impact of releases, features, or changes on the IT environment in place and advise relevant stakeholders on a recommended approach.
  • Conduct evaluations, testing and integration of new operating systems, drivers, and patches.
  • Provide information, transfer knowledge, and actively promote awareness and a sense of responsibility regarding compliance to relevant IT policies, procedures, and work instructions to be followed by all staff.
  • Plan, organize and manage tasks related to their subject matter on time, delivering with high quality and minimal supervision.
  • Provide strong technical leadership in their subject matter and drive continuous improvement.

Successful Candidate

Technical and specific skills / Experience

  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Windows based workstations, understanding of features offered by Microsoft operating system;
  • Proven hands-on experience in Windows Server administration (installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting) with enterprise level skills in Wintel physical and Virtual environments;
  • Experience providing customer service with best-in-class communication and leadership;
  • Hands-on server administration experience within Windows server 2016, 2019, 2022 and future releases;
  • Experience with the technologies in the scope, including expertise in Active Directory (on premise and Azure), ADFS, MIM, Teams, Office365, Microsoft Data Loss Prevention;
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.);
  • Hands-on Wintel system patching and monitoring for servers and workstations (on operational system and applications level);
    • Experience related to failover tests and Disaster Recovery methods for technologies in the scope;
  • Experience with multiple scripting languages and automation (as a minimum good level of Microsoft Windows PowerShell is mandatory);
  • Strong Security Practitioner –day to day operation and architecture standards.
  • Advanced   understanding   of   IT   network   operations   (WAN,   LAN,   TCP/IP,   VPN,   etc.),   server environments, load balancer;
  • Understanding authentication mechanism;
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation;
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, ticketing systems and CMDB;
  • Proven experience with Mobile Device Management solutions;
  • Proven strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues;
  • Experience running IT initiatives, design, configuration and deployment of new solutions, technology upgrades;
  • Ability to provide specialist technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to Institute Management and other technical specialists;
  • Experience in monitoring and optimizing the performance of the systems in scope.
  • Experience in writing functional requirements and preparing functional designs of the  systems  in scope;
  • Knowledge of technology   standards, regarding topics such as converged/hyper-converged architecture, hybrid cloud and cloud models;
  • Microsoft and Security certifications are an asset

EXPERIENCE 

  • Junior: minimum 1year of relevant experience for the respective role;
  • Standard: minimum 3 years of relevant experience for the respective role;
  • Senior: minimum 7 years of relevant experience for the respective role;
  • Team Leader: Senior level (see above), including both operational and management experience
