ECSAT serves as ESA's hub for telecommunications and integrated applications, supporting the development and commercialization of innovative space-based solutions.
We are seeking to hire a Satcom Space Segment Engineer to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ECSAT) in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world.

As a Satcom Space Segment Engineer you will join the ECSAT community workforce and associated organisations within the European Space Agency where you will have the opportunity to support the activities in the Telecommunication Satellite Domain for cutting-edge projects.

Main Responsibilities
• Support the management of activities devoted to the development of telecommunication satellite technology and products.
• Support the initiation of activities related to technology and product development for satcom applications.
• Support the establishment and control of relevant ESA requirements, specifications and general documentation.
• Support the evaluation, negotiation, monitoring and control of development contracts and activities.
• Support the preparation of inputs to status reports.
• Support by contributing to the preparation of technology and product development work plans.
• Monitor market and technology trends and developments in the area of satellite communication.
• Support identifying any issues during the procurement phase, the running or closing of an activity, and flag them for attention in a timely manner.
• Support the timely preparation of papers for Adjudication Committee meetings or Delegate bodies (IPC, JCB), with high quality standards.
• Support the provision inputs for the Department Business Intelligence management system.
• Supporting the promotion of ARTES and ARTES socioeconomic impact analysis.
Successful Candidate
Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:
• Master’s degree or equivalent in Physics or Engineering, or a relevant field.
• At least 4 years proven experience in aerospace or telecommunications satellite design and manufacturing.
• Expertise with satcom payload architecture
• Expertise in free space optical communication payloads and system architecture, or RF/mmWave SATCOM payloads and system architectures, or experience in end-to-end communications systems engineering involving RF or optical payloads.
• Experience in high-level system aspects of various the elements of satellite avionics is an added advantage.
• Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
• Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
• Candidates must have an EU Nationality from an ESA member states
Your Background:
This position is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). To be considered, you must be born in a European country (EU only) approved under ITAR. The successful candidate must be eligible to access ITAR-controlled information in compliance with applicable export control laws.
