As subcontractor, Serco Italia S.p.A. is currently looking for a Remote Sensing and GIS Data Analyst to join our great team in Ispra (VA)!

Main Responsibilities

As Remote Sensing and GIS Data Analyst you will be responsible for:
Task 1: Work in close collaboration with the JRC D.5 staff in the implementation of the new CAP control methods. Liaise with the MS Regions giving expert advice and guidance to their technical choices.
- Understand Member States IACS/LPIS systems, and their constraints in their methods development;
- Support the Member States in their technical implementation; report on the status of advancement periodically
- Develop and run demonstrations for selected Member States, addressing the various constraints, especially related to data use and analytical needs;
- Liaison with the JRC D.5 staff, the MS Administrations
Task 2: Contribute to development customized information extraction methods based on earth observation data provided by Sentinel 1 and 2 accessible on the DIAS, providing:
- Support in data analysis and processing for agricultural applications
- Propose solutions for identified image/data analyses tasks
- Support porting of relevant algorithms and methods for analysis and development
- Evaluate and report performance of developed methods
- Contribute to develop of customized information extraction workflows
- Contribute to development of JRC’s publicly available toolkit built on standardized access to data and services
Task 3: Contribute to CbM outreach project by providing:
- Participation in meetings and providing technical expertise, giving presentations on the technical topics related to tasks for the project,
- Contributing to writing of technical documentation; revision of technical documents related to the project
- Support in the development of methodology for identification of agricultural activities
- Support the Member States with their technical implementation
- Expert advice to Member States, to support their better understanding of the overall potential of Sentinel data for agricultural application.

Successful Candidate
Required experience with
- Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) data analysis and processing, with special emphasis on Copernicus Sentinel data (best for agricultural applications)
- Commercial and Open source RS and GIS software tools
- Experience in working with pan-EU spatial datasets 4
- Python programming
