We are currently looking for a Software Product Assurance (PA) Engineer to support the European Space Agency (ESA) at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in the development and operations of scientific missions. The job is required to be performed at the European Space Astronomy Centre premises located in Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid, Spain with teleworking.
In this role you will support the development and operations team in the definition of the processes and the quality levels of the software developed to fulfil the requirements defined by the European Space Agency. You will be the Scrum Master and will propose and implement Agile practices to improve the efficiency of the team. You will become the point of reference regarding standards for software development and operations and will interact with a wider group of PA engineers, sharing knowledge and good practices and improving along the way.
Main Responsibilities
- Guide the team’s work towards the fulfillment of programmatic and technical Software Product Assurance requirements
- Scrum Master of the development and operations teams
- Perform Software PA analysis and generate reports and technical documentation
- Maintain PA processes and procedures
- Participate in reviews, meetings and software review boards as needed
- Contribute to software product evaluation and process assessment, including the definition of the metrication program
- Support the teams in the verification and validation activities at all level and with the formalities associated
- Lead and support the continuous improvement process
- Support the team with the Continuous Integration process and tools used
- Maintain the corresponding databases for tracking software issues, actions as required.
- Support the risk management process
Successful Candidate
- Master’s degree in engineering or scientific area
- Relevant experience in software development and/or software Product Assurance
- Practical experience implementing ECSS standards, especially those applicable to software
- Knowledge and proven experience in:
- Software engineering processes
- Product Assurance processes
- Configuration of complex systems
- Tools: JIRA/Confluence, Jenkins, git, Maven and SonarQube or equivalent
- Test automation, load and performance testing and tools
- Experience working with Agile methodologies, mainly SCRUM/Kanban, and familiarity with DevOps practices
Background knowledge in the following areas would be an asset:
- ESA software engineering processes and standards
- Software licensing
- Science operations
