Main Responsibilities
PDGS Operations Engineer Heritage Missions
We are looking for an experienced PDGS engineer to come and join our team. This activity is intended to support the PDGS operations coordination, operations services integration, services operations coordination, PDGS evolution engineering coordination, integration of EE (Earth Explorer) and TPM (Third Party Missions) missions in the HM (Heritage Missions) programme, and support to the coordination for the reprocessing of EO (Earth Observation) data.
Main tasks include:
- Support to PDGS Operations for the HM Programme.
- Support to the coordination or reprocessing activities.
- Support to the coordination for publication to the users and archival of EO
- data.
- Support to the technical and service documentation necessary for the PDGS
- service procurement.
- Support to the integration of EE and TPM missions into the HM Programme.
- Support the PDGS operations coordination.
- Support to operational validation of PDGS services and applications
Successful Candidate
Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, preferably in Earth Observation or Computer Science.
- At least 5 years of working experience in the area of PDGS operations of ESA missions or representative/similar environment.
- Experience on Payload Data Ground segment architecture and/or operations.
- Capacity to acquire in depth technical understanding and knowledge of PDGS systems (overall architecture, data flows, interfaces, dependencies) in a limited time.
- Experience with configuration management, change control and release management.
- Experience/Knowledge in the design, implementation, and migration of PDGS architecture based on Kubernetes (K8s).
- Experience/knowledge of micro-services systems, cloud native applications using container and cloud orchestration technologies.
- Knowledge of machine learning, optimization problems and artificial intelligence techniques for advanced PDGS automation.
- Pro-activeness, good communication skills, team player.
- Result-oriented.
- Capacity to work autonomously.
- Capacity to generate good documentation.
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal guidance and to work and cooperate with others.
- Experience/knowledge on service/operations best practices (ITIL), management and processes.
- Ability to coordinate end to end activities and teams.
- Ability to take ownership and manage end to end problems.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
