On behalf of our client, ESOC, we are looking for a skilled Automation / Continual Improvement Officer join our team distributed over the ESOC site, in Germany.
Main Responsibilities
As Automation / Continual Improvement Officer you will concentrate your activities on the following:
The role is part of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) tasked with coordinating, configuring, and monitoring activities related to the ESA ground segment, specifically the Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) stations of the ESTRACK ground station network. The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive end-to-end service provision for the Mission Operations Infrastructure IT (MOI-IT) Business Area within the defined SLA, taking full responsibility of activities within their domain, comprising infrastructure operations on mission critical computer and communication systems.
The NOC Services at ESOC maintains and operates the mission operations infrastructure, covering everything from 24/7 first line monitoring and service desk to 2nd line teams and support for engineering activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and promote the use of automation across NOC services.
- Support the Service Manager in driving the evolution of the service in alignment with the Agency’s changing business needs.
- Review existing processes, procedures, and identify use cases where automation could provide service improvements.
- Drive the design and implementation of the automated processes into operation
- Enable and integrate automation tools within NOC services.
- Ensure close collaboration with the Service Delivery Managers (SDM) and other support groups for the implementation of projects.
- Attend user meetings, briefings, user groups and workshops as required.
- Keep up to date with latest trends, automation technologies and best practices.
- Provide regular and on-demand reporting and statistics.
- Act as an interface to the customer.

Applicants need to have a solid background in IT / Operational support.
Prior experience of working in an international environment is a plus.
Desirable Experience and Education:
- Sound knowledge of ITIL processes in IT Service Management.
- Prior experience in project management – Prince2, PMP, Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Knowledge of different available automation tools and their capabilities.
- Day-to-day knowledge of networking concepts, virtualization and OS.
- Fluent in English, proven ability to communicate effectively, both in speech and writing.
- Self-starter, able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Pro-active and confident personality with good persuasive skills.
- Team-player, able to interface with technical and management personnel.
- Well-organised, able to prioritise and manage several tasks in parallel.
- Able to write and present documentation, procedures, and training material / presentations.
- Experience in coordination and supervision of teams.
- PC literacy: MS Office Products, ITSM tools.
