Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and monitoring HPC and Grid clusters availability and performance;
  • Maintain and update both HPC (an High Performance Computing system made of 35 nodes dedicated to parallel processing based on MPI libraries) and its software components and Grid cluster;
  • Provide a high level of support to users;
  • Update technical documentation;
  • Install, configure, customize new hardware;
  • Upgrade software and operating system when requested, mainly RedHat and CentOS;
  • Liaise with datacentre and Storage staff for hardware and storage issues and requests;
  • Programming and OS knowledge:
    • Thorough knowledge of Linux;
    • Operating Systems on Clustered environments;
    • Compilation of OpenSource software;
    • Compilers such as C++;
    • Scripting in python;
    • Knowledge of R.
  • The contractor is required to give high-level support to the scientific users of clusters in terms of:
    • Ability to understand users requirements and problems, and propose appropriate software solutions
  • Ability to support developers with issues related code and parallel programming concepts;
  • Support users in testing new tools and checking compatibility.

Successful Candidate

  • University Degree in  Computer Science or similar levels of work experience;
  • 10 year  experience in  Linux system administration;
  • The ability to Communicate efficiently in English both spoken and written;
  • Proactive approach to work , should suggest solutions and share ideas;
  • Be able to work in an international environment;
  • Should be able to work as part of a team.
