Laboratory Engineering Technician

We’re expending our activities within the ESA Space Power Laboratory (ESPL). To complete our team we are currently looking for a Laboratory Engineering Technician.
As a Laboratory Engineering Technician you will be working within the laboratory of ESTEC and you will contribute to various experiments for internal and external customers. These experiments and inspections are carried out in energy storage, photovoltaic & power conversion systems.
The successful applicant will be part of the proud ESPL-team consisting out of 6 team members, and will be working alongside a team of scientific staff performing investigations and experiments. Making this a workplace with an ton of knowledge at your fingertips!
Role Responsibility
The future colleague will focus his/her activities on the following tasks:
- Maintaining and modifying laboratory facilities;
- Setting up and performing controlled experiments;
- Preparation and instrumentation of test samples;
- Maintain the laboratory calibration and maintenance databases;
- Reporting test results and writing procedures.
Successful Candidate
Our future colleague should have:
- Bachelor's degree within Mechatronics, Electro/Mechanics, Physics or similar areas. However; this is not our main focus. We’re looking for a colleague with a hands-on mentality, that is a good fit within the team. The lack of degree can be compensated in years of relevant experience;
- Versatile experience and knowledge of laboratory testing environments.
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Good team working skills;
- Troubleshooting & analytical skills;
- Proficient computer skills;
Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- NEN3140 electrical safety inspections
- Working in an international scientific environment
- Calibration activities;
- Experience in battery or photovoltaic testing techniques
- Vacuum and cryogenic systems
- Software Engineering skills; (LabView, C++)
