Junior Remote Sensing Specialist

Role Responsibility

The position is for a specialist in EO remote sensing. Your main responsibilities will be to prepare thematic (land, ocean, ice…) training material focusing on the utilisation of Copernicus Sentinel data (all missions) targeting user communities with different skills in EO, ranging from basic to very advanced. The activities include organisation, set-up and provision of face to face training events and web conferencing. Experience with Copernicus sentinel data is an asset.

You will work in a team of multi – lingual experts

Successful Candidate

You need to hold an university degree in Physics, Remote Sensing or similar, have an in-depth knowledge of satellite remote sensing (optical and SAR), image analysis, GIS technology and applications and programming. In particular, demonstrated capabilities in EO data processing and applications (specially with Optical/IR) and some teaching and communication experience are sought. 


Other skills:

  • Experience in multi-source data integration
  • Good documentation writing skills
  • Experience in big data processing, cloud computing, and computer science 
  • Experience with data Science tools (e.g. Python, R, SQL, Matlab, C++)
  • Ability to manage several tasks in parallel and to prioritise 
  • Capability to work in a team
  • Pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution 
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of additional languages is an asset
