For our communication activities in ESRIN, we are currently looking for a data visualization and image processing expert.​

Main Responsibilities

The Candidate will execute the following main types of activities:

  • Create high quality illustrations, graphics, animated images, presentations in 2D and 3D using specialized software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects or similar)
  • Taking processed satellite data to the next level in the processing chain using images from different sources production of high quality illustrations, graphics, animated images, presentations using Earth observation data processing tools
  • Edit existing video material to tell stories and do post-production work using commercial software (Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects or similar)
  • Process satellite data from raw format to a final product using dedicated EO (SNAP, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI/IDL, QGIS or similar) and graphics software (Adobe Photoshop or similar)
  • Combine different data sets from different sources – satellites, ground based, map data, etc. - into single maps or visualizations
  • Provision of basic information on the images and illustrations for the EO editors
  • Support the maintenance of the team’s resource database.

Successful Candidate

Qualifications and Requirements

Ideal applicants will have a BA/MSc degree in a relevant field of Earth Observation (or similar) and proven experience in visualization, video and/or image processing or similar tasks. Ideally some extra qualification related to graphics would be a plus.

The working language for the position is English: a good working knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.

Any experience in scripting and/or programming (for image and big data processing) or web technologies such as Python, HTML, CSS and Javascript would be a plus.

A portfolio of previous work will be appreciated.
