Job Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Junior Data Protection Officer to join our team in Tallinn, Estonia Office. 

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the respect of rights to privacy and data protection foreseen by Articles 7 and 8 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, while processing any personal data collected according to the provisions in Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data, as well as the Decision of the Management on implementing rules relating to Regulation (EC) No 2018/1275.
  • Ensuring that the processing of personal data of eu-LISA is being performed for the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest in accordance with European Union law or whilst legitimately exercising the official authority vested to the Agency, and furthermore, this processing of personal data is lawful. and as a part of a legal or contractual obligation or when the data subject concerned has given his or her unambiguous consent.

Successful Candidate

  • Support the identification and tracking of all personal data processing operations at eu-LISA, ensuring that they are covered by an associated data protection record and privacy statement; 
  • Assist the delegated data controllers in drafting necessary documentation for new data processing operations (records and privacy statements) and data processors when applicable;
  • Maintain eu-LISA DP registers, e.g. register of data subject requests, personal data breaches and registers of data processing activities;
  • Perform tasks and activities to support the DPO with EDPS interactions or inquiries, including but not limited to requests, consultations and audits;
  • Provide guidance and support handling requests of data subjects and dealing with personal data breaches;
  • Where requested, monitor and provide support on carrying out data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) or the need for EDPS prior consultation of DPIAs;
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in ensuring that tasks related to the Corporate IT change management procedure are properly and duly completed;
  • Ensure DP aspects are sufficiently taken into account during the evaluation of new demands for Corporate IT solutions and the setup of projects to deliver new business solutions;
  • Assist the DPO with DP outreach and awareness activities;
  • Upon request, support the management of projects in eu-LISA related to the DP field;
  • Perform any other DP-related tasks assigned as per eu-LISA internal rules.
