Assistant Accountant

Job Introduction

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant​ in the Serco Netherlands. 

 

 

Role Responsibility

The accountant is responsible for the proper booking of all documents, for the integrity of the data in the financial system, contribute to the financial compliance with Netherland accounting, VAT, and tax requirements.

He will be involved in the monthly closing, and he will timely deliver accurate monthly reporting to Serco group. This person is part of European finance team in which each member must be a back up to the other members.

The scope of the job is Serco Nederlands BV.

Key Accountabilities;

  • Ensure appropriate financial compliance and governance
  • Ensure appropriate booking of documents as per group structure defined
  • Deliver to group timely and accurate accounts
  • Continuous improvement financial processes/systems to improve compliance and efficiency
  • Provide the head of accounting with relevant financial information
  • Run effectively with the team the daily, monthly, and annual finance operations (accounting, treasury, tax & VAT)
  • Participate to the completeness of statutory and regulatory financial requirements and ensure the appropriate level of awareness.
  • Contribute to the monthly closing processes at country level and ensure timely and accurate reporting of financials.
  • Preparation of VAT and tax returns. Contacts with administration.
  • Statutory accounts preparation according to LGAAP and timing.
  • Support for appropriate financial accounting policies and controls are in place and take responsibility for ensuring successful internal and external audit outcomes.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations according to group requirements.
  • Communicate about balance sheet risks and opportunities.

Successful Candidate

Essential Qualifications;

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Few years' experiences in a similar function for an international company.
  • NLGAAP knowledge, IFRS exposure is a plus.
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Fluent in Dutch, English
  • Essential technical and professional skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrate high cognitive ability.
  • Proven track record in building positive relationships.
  • Identifies ways to improve the accounting processes and implement. Continually seeks improved and more efficient methods of working.
  • A high degree of integrity, personal self-discipline, and a strong work ethics with a flexible approach to the job, being prepared to challenge the norms and capable of using own initiative.
  • Delivery focused - ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities Essential experiences
  • Will have operated as an accountant in an international business of an appropriate size and complexity.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and propose improvements.
  • Strong PC skills, agile in Excel
  • Evidence of experience in working in a changing environment.
  • Can work in a structured and methodical manner, deadline driven.
