Main Responsibilities

Main tasks and specific technical competencies

The selected candidate will be responsible for the support and improvement of the storage service while working in the Storage and Backup Team in the Data and Network Section in the Infrastructure and Network Operations Division. The selected candidate will be reporting to the team coordinator and working in close liaison with the client teams for storage services, namely 2nd level system administrators and other engineering and project teams. Furthermore, the envisaged adoption of converged systems and a new platform for NAS (CIFS and NFS file services) will require the successful candidate to liaise with business service coordinators and interact with end users.

In this context, each of the following technical competencies and experience are desirable and will be considered an asset during the evaluation:

  • excellent experience with Netapp FAS or IBM N-Series;
  • proven experience with IBM storage systems (e.g XIV, DS8K, V7000) and Brocade SAN;
  • understanding of server administration or converged systems (e.g. Flexpod);
  • excellent understanding and experience with data protection concepts such as storage snapshot, backup and recovery solutions (e.g. TSM, SnapManager)
  • proven experience with storage management/monitoring tools (e.g. HP SOM, Netapp OCI or IBM Spectrum Control)
  • proven experience with IT Service Continuity Management activities, either testing or participating in disaster recovery scenarios;
  • process-oriented approach based on working knowledge of IT Service Management standards, such as ITIL, in particular in the areas of incident, problem and release management.

Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate should have at least  10+ years of relevant experience

This position is established with the following mandatory requirements:

  • excellent experience in developing and supporting storage  systems and storage area networks
  • excellent experience with Netapp FAS or IBM N-Series
  • good command of English with proven drafting ability

  • ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at different levels, using technical or nontechnical language and/or documentation as appropriate
  • manages multiple assignments and tracks progress on numerous processes simultaneously
  • good analytical skills and problem-solving orientation
  • shows cultural-awareness required to work well in an international team
