As subcontractor, Serco Italia S.p.A. is currently looking for a Earth Observation Data Analysis, Image Processing and Software Development Expert to join our great team in Ispra (VA)!

Main Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist (Statistical Softwares) you will be responsible for:

  • Assistance for the development of DARS-CC statistical applications,
    including programming of Linux scripts for their integration in production
    environments
  • Transfer of the “mature” anti-fraud applications to the secured IT
    environment of OLAF and related services (TAXUD, BUDG)
  • Assistance to the specification and design of presentation interfaces with
    optimal usability/user experience. Primarily, the creation of a visualization
    platform based on Tableau, capable to operate with a number of statistical
    engines, including R, MATLAB and SAS
  • Integration of the visualization platform with the existing visualization and
    information retrieval systems (THESEUS, Contraffic, Adamas, Web-
    ARIADNE and ATHENA)
  • Advice and consulting on further needed development of the project
    infrastructure
  • Architectural design for the integration of the software applications in order to
    obtain environments where components are well configured to work together
  • Definition and implementation of the backup strategies
  • Assistance for the management of Linux servers and all IT resources
  • Assistance to the development, packaging and configuration of FSDA
    toolbox (extension of MATLAB and statistics toolbox to support a robust and
    efficient analysis of complex data sets) in view to its distribution to
    academic/research users
  • Support to a benchmark study for a set of critical computationally
    intensive FSDA functions (this relates to the task below on MATLAB
    Distributed Computing Server)
  • Provision of technical documentation of the system architecture and the
    DARS-CC applications

Successful Candidate

The following skills and knowledge are requested for the performance of the above listed tasks:

  • Statistical softwares (SAS, MATLAB and R)
  • MySQL
  • Oracle
  • Linux/Windows OS
  • Web administration (LAMP architecture)
  • Configuration and management of statistical SW in distributed computing
    environment, MySQL and RedHat Linux based system
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary environment
