Applications Developer

We are looking for a dynamic Applications Developer to join our team at the esteemed ESA-ESTEC site in the Netherlands. Step into a remarkable role that grants you access to one of the globe's highly coveted space agencies.

Role Responsibility

As an Applications Developer  you will concentrate your activities on the following:

  • Implementation of software requirements under the current architectural design in agreement with the best software engineering practices and ESA.
  • Maintenance of software implementations, changes, upgrades and migrations in the related source code management tool.
  • Maintenance of the current development, testing and production environment in relation with the developed software.
  • Orchestrate and perform unit testing and user acceptance sessions prior to any release related to the developed software.
  • Support user community on their day-to-day operations related to the developed software.
  • Liaise with the team members and external teams for interfaces and implementations related to the developed software.
  • Organize and/or attend team or external meetings, related with the implementation, evolution and support of the developed software.
  • Support product owners in producing software requirements.

 

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Vocational Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Interest in low-code platforms, preferably Oracle APEX.
  • Knowledge of SQL, preferably PL/SQL.
  • Experience in development through all aspects of a Web application (UI frontend technologies - Javascript, CSS, jQuery) down to the database level.
  • Experience designing and implementing interfaces between applications / systems (REST Web Services, not limited to).
  • Good knowledge of more than 1 programming language, eager to learn and adapt / switch.
  • Good knowledge of Power BI and Azure Data Factory.
  • Good knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git in combination with Gitlab.
  • Experience with DevOps processes and frameworks
  • Ability to support users directly either through phone calls or e-mails.
  • Capable of clear and accurate written and verbal communications.

 

Mandatory experience:

 

  • 3 years professional experience with SQL.
  • Professional experience low-code platforms.
  • Professional experience with Power BI.
  • Professional experience with version control systems.
  • Professional experience with user-support.

 

Nice to have:

 

  • Experience in database and query tuning / performance.
  • Experience setting up own application platform environment (installation and configuration of Database, Web Server..).
  • Identify opportunities to maintain and optimize database performance (maybe nice to have).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office platform (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with all stages of software development, including pre-delivery Q&A (designing / participation in User Acceptance Tests) and deployment.
  • Experience with lifecycle of Oracle database systems and related technologies (perform installation in new environments, upgrade existing ones).
  • Professional experience with Azure (Data Factory, Spark, Storage).
  • Professional experience with data warehousing projects.
