IT System Engineer

Role Responsibility

Are you up for a thrilling adventure in Frascati, Italy? Join our dynamic and diverse team as a IT System Engineer and embark on a journey of providing top-notch engineering support to Serco projects.

You will be involved in Maintenance activities relevant to Copernicus, Destination Earth (DestinE) and Italian PNRR initiatives. The position allows to work on every aspect of Software System Engineering, such as software design, software validation, support to Operations Teams, Test automation, interface facilitation between Teams.

As IT System Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting corrective and evolutive maintenance activities, assisting the solution design phase and the follow-up of technical teams, performing troubleshooting, and solving problems handling technical analysis;
  • Supporting the implementation of End-to-End solutions for operational systems, considering initial requirement analysis;
  • Supporting Integration, Validation and Verification (IVV) activities;
  • Supporting the design and implementation of automated Testing Pipelines (following CI/CD approach);
  • Reviewing and updating technical documentation to streamline the flow of information from Development Team to Operations Team.

Successful Candidate

Your skills:

  • Degree in Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Technical Science;
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix Operating System environment, and scripting;
  • Knowledge of code versioning and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, GitLab, etc..);
  • Working experience with Programming languages (e.g. Python, etc.);​
  • Working experience in containers orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes);​
  • Working experience in software testing, with preparation of Test Plan and Test Report;
  • English Level B2 (Upper-Intermediate), written and spoken;

Desirables

  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices;
  • Experience of System Engineering processes (e.g., ECSS standard);
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL Databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Solr);
  • Working experience with Cloud infrastructure and pipeline deployment;
  • Capability of writing technical documentation (e.g., Procedures, Technical Notes, Interface Control Document, System Design Document);
  • Knowledge of Ticketing Management (e.g. JIRA);
  • Knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats;
  • Knowledge of Copernicus and Destination Earth (DestinE) programs;
  • Critical thinking and self-organization skills.
