Job Introduction

We are hiring a Application/Cloud Architect for European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.

Main Responsibilities

Analysis of the integration of different information systems.
Data analysis and data modelling.
Coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture.
Technical interface between the project leaders and the developers.
Production of software architecture documents.
Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting.
Creating designs and blueprints of Cloud Architecture.
Review of the architecture of existing systems to migrate of existing system in the cloud.
Design and development of architecture components and building blocks using cloud components.

Successful Candidate

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Bachelor degree of 3 years.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Good knowledge of architecture best practices and patterns.
  • Good knowledge of microservices and architecture in the cloud.
  • Good knowledge of applications design.
  • Good knowledge of modelling tools.
  • Good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture.
  • Good knowledge of business process analysis.
  • Knowledge of interoperability technology (web services, message oriented middleware, service oriented bus, event architecture).
  • Rapid self-starting capability
  • Experience in working in team
  • Solution oriented
  • Ability to analyse the root cause when users encounter problems with existing processes
  • Knowledge of following tools:
  • Atlassian Jira
  • Atlassian Confluence
  • MS Teams
  • Due to the particular nature of a large international organisation such as the European Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:
  • Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team;
  • Ability to participate in multilingual meetings;
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, on multiple large projects;
  • Excellent Team Player
  • Ability to understand, speak and write English (C1) is mandatory. Ability to speak French will be an advantage.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

  • Expert experience in the development of Java-based back-end systems (minimum 5 years)
  • Expert experience with the Spring Boot and Spring framework and libraries (minimum 5 years)
  • Expert experience in the development of Angular-based applications (minimum 2 years)
  • Expert experience in the development of automated tests (unit, integration, contract-based, APIs, end-to-end – minimum 2 years)
