Accountant

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant, based in Serco Support Office in Darmstadt, Germany.

The position is offered as a fixed-term contract from 08/05/2021 until 28/02/2021.

 

Role Responsibility

As Accountant you will concentrate your activities on the following:

Trade creditors & BERs (travel/ business expenses):

  • Process purchase invoices and BERs
    • check correctness and process authorisation
    • trade creditor accounting
  • Organise and process payment runs
  • Monitor and post cost accruals
  • Support monthly finance / month end processes (Serco Group and Germany)

Treasury:

  • Petty cash
  • Bank accounts
  • Quarterly statutory statistics (AWV-Meldung)

Accounts:

  • Posting bank-, creditor accounts and cost accruals
  • Monthly reconciliations of all local balance sheet accounts (incl. documentation)
  • Monthly Intercompany Reconciliation/ Reporting
  • Deputise monthly BPC processes
  • Support yearend audit and statutory accounts (German GAAP)
  • Support tax audits
  • Prepare documentation for yearly tax returns
  • Ad-hoc reporting to German management and contract managers

VAT

  • Monthly and yearly reconciliation of P&L accounts and VAT
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
  • Prepare and submit quarterly reports (ZM-Meldung)

Asset register:

  • Maintain fixed asset register & inventory

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on accounting / taxes / audit or alternatively completed commercial education with additional training as a certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter);
  • + 5 years experience in accounting;
  • You have worked with Corporate Accounting office;
  • Result oriented, quality focused and a proactive team player who is used to work independently;
  • High team and communication skills, as well as quick comprehension:
  • Fluency in German and English;
  • Very good understanding of MS Office;
  • Flexible ways of working;
