European Tax Manager

Role Responsibility

As European Tax Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Management of European corporate tax compliance including tax payments on account and returns for the European companies including liaison with 3rd party provider of corporate tax compliance services and local finance teams
  • Management of European VAT compliance including review of VAT returns, EC sales lists and VAT reconciliations and liaison with offshore shared service centre and local finance teams
  • Collaboration with the Head of Employment taxes to identify, coordinate and monitor controls for income tax and social security in relation to contractors, payroll, benefits, and cross border working with the European HR, Finance & business teams. 
  • Awareness and implementation of European future compliance in relation to pillar 2 and e-invoicing
  • Participate in technology implementation projects including S4/Hana
  • Review tax forecasting for the European entities feeding into global group (ETR and cash tax)
  • Providing support relating to tax reporting to be included within consolidated accounts including working with local finance teams regarding reported numbers. 
  • Ensure appropriate tax due diligence, structuring and implementation support and advice is provided for European acquisitions, disposals and group reorganisations across all taxes.
  • Liaison with European finance teams and business managers on the tax implications, risks and opportunities associated with operational decisions across all taxes
  • Monitor international legislative developments across all taxes and consider and communicate the implications of them for the organisation.
  • Involvement in local tax authority audits and enquiries including liaison with local management, local tax advisors, local tax authority and Group tax.
  • Co-ordination with Group tax in relation to material tax matters and implementation of the Serco Tax Strategy.

Successful Candidate

Required skills / experience:

  • In practice 5-10 years post qualified worked in tax team with multinational clients. 
  • Experience of tax compliance and tax reporting.
  • In industry with smaller company with regional responsibility.
  • Tax/accounting qualifications required.

Languages:

  • English mandatory
  • German desired
