ESTRACK Transition Manager

Role Responsibility

We are currently looking for a Transition Manager for ESTRACK, to work in Serco's
operations at our customer site ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany

The role will be offered as 12-months fixed-term contract.

The position is related to the Network Operations Centre (NOC) Services at ESOC, for which Serco will nominate a temporary position to oversee the implementation of all re-organisation of the service into its new operating structure.

The ESTRACK Transition Manager is the main point of contact and the responsible party for managing change of the services Serco provides, while minimizing costs and associated risk factors.

The Transition Manager will be aligned upon contract award, and will remain in position until the agreed level of operational resilience has been achieved, and the Agency has approved ‘business as usual’ status for the contract, but not longer than 12 months. As the implications and considerations for the planned transition may be complex and affect multiple areas of the business, the Transition Manager shall chair regular review meetings and on demand create presentations, which includes handouts, notes, examples and research materials, to illustrate the point.

As part of a multi-headed transition team the ESTRACK Transition Manager is responsible for the following:

1.  Mutual adaptation towards collective goals such that every actor plays a part in shaping the transition.

2.  Managing change during the transition of the services Serco provides.

3.  Taking measures to improve operations, integrating new requirements and requesting necessary resources.

Tasks:

  • Manage the transition team and provide weekly updates on the status of the team composition.
  • Develop and maintain a shadowing and scoring plan.
  • Create a Change Management Toolkit for each Change during the transition.
  • Keep in constant correspondence with a multitude of interested parties. These involve any stakeholders, e.g., transition team, customer, Knowledge Manager, Training Officer.
  • Work unison with Serco backoffice, finance, Human Resources, operations and engineering teams to help them implement changes, or to seek out information.
  • Advise invested parties of possible concerns, as well as make recommendations about the best solutions.
  • Develop presentations to the client, as well as to colleagues.
  • Ensure service interruptions are minimised during planned activities.
  • Adhere to current site procedures (technical, environmental, safety and security).
  • Actively participate in recommending technical and procedural improvements to the benefit of the service.
  • Preparation, support and implementation of planned and scheduled changes.

Successful Candidate

The successful candidate should bring:

  • Organisational and time management, report writing, and strong service ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and the ability to work in a team are very
  • important.
  • Confidentiality is an integral part of your daily business.
  • Recent experience in Project Management or similar activities.
  • Good organisational, analytical and resolution skills.
  • Work is performed in a transparent manner.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management processes and good practice (such as ITIL
  • PC literacy: MS Professional Office Products, Visio, Lotus Note
  • Very good command of English with proven drafting ability, knowledge of German a plus.
