We are hiring a Technology Expert with expertise in Business Intelligence and Data Governance for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Role Responsibility

Your tasks:

  • Plan, create, and execute quality assurance and testing activities for the Data Warehouse
  • Create, plan, and execute indicators and tests of data pipelines / ETL processes
  • Define, review and validate data quality/accuracy alongside their respective KPIs
  • Develop, execute, document, and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test suites and test cases 
  • Support testing efforts as a part of Agile/Scrum teams
  • Provide the list and estimates associated with quality assurance/testing activities and tasks
  • Collaborate with the business and support development teams to troubleshoot, solve defects, and other related issues
  • Partner with Solution Analysts and Project Managers to ensure requirements are documented, understood, testable, accurately tested and meet the expected level of quality – be participant to the DoR (definition of ready) and DoD (definition of done)
  • Track and report on test status using established QA metrics and KPIs for assigned projects; create new ones were required
  • Provide input on go / no-go decisions for production releases
  • Collaborate with the project teams to develop, implement and improve innovative QA capabilities, approaches and services
  • Participate in designing, developing and maintaining data quality assurance framework

Successful Candidate

Required knowledge and skills 

  • 5 years of proven QA/Test Experience in for IT Initiatives
  • 5 years’ of proven experience in Data Warehouse Testing
  • 5 years of proven experience in testing analytical processes
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum Methodology Framework
  • Proficient at independently writing complex SQL queries
  • Fundamental knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts
  • Experience reviewing Business Requirement Document (BRD) / User Stories for accuracy and completeness
  • Experience in Manual and Automated Testing in Data Warehouse environments
  • Extensive experience in ETL/ Data warehouse backend testing and BI Intelligence reports testing
  • Expert knowledge in creating Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scenarios and Test Strategies, Defect Management to ensure Quality Assurance and to test all the business requirements
  • Experience in Business Intelligence testing with various reporting tools using Cognos, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Crystal Dashboards (Xcelsius), QlikView and QlikSense
  • Experience in using Automation Tool: Quick Test Professional (QTP) and Quality Center (QC) in Client/Server.
  • Experience with Used Agile Test Methods to provide rapid feedback to the developers significantly helping them uncover important risks
  • Experience with Unit Testing, Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing and Requirement Testing
  • Experience executing and coordinating integration, system, regression and user acceptance testing
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, activities or tasks under time constraints
  • Experience with SAP BODS (Business Objects Data Services), SAP Information Steward and SAP Data Intelligence is a plus
  • Experience with Informatica Data Validation and/or Informatica Power Center or similar tools is a plus
  • Experience with Xray for Jira or HPQC is a plus
  • A valid certification in a recognized quality assurance standard is required (i.e. ISTQB), certification in data and analytics testing is considered a big plus (i.e. DAU-CDAT)

Due to the particular nature of a large international organisation such as the European Commission, you should also have the following non-technical skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to participate in multilingual meetings in English and to understand, speak, and write in English (C1 level), French is considered a plus;
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and run stakeholder meetings;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Documentation and writing skills;
  • Ease of communication;
  • Rapid self-starting capability;
  • Ability to work in a team, integrate and work in an international/multi-cultural environment, on variable-sized projects;
  • Ability to work with a high degree of rigor and method and, more specifically, to follow standards such as naming conventions;
  • Meticulous and quality-oriented in work;
  • Ability to write technical documentation and specifications in English and optionally in French.

As the activities to be performed deal with personal and confidential data, the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality are requested from the expert. In particular, absolute compliance shall be observed with applicable standards for handling information of a confidential or otherwise sensitive nature in relation to the execution of the contract. 

Education and Experience

  • Level of education corresponding to level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a master’s level or 5 years of higher education);
  • A minimum number of years of professional experience in Business analysis or Information system design/development of 11 years.
