We are hiring a Technology Expert for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Role Responsibility

As Technology Expert you will be responsible for:

  • Analysis of user requirements and modelling of new information systems;
  • High-level and low-level design of applications
  • Production of technical documentation;
  • Assistance with deployment and configuration of the systems;
  • Development of proofs of concepts;
  • Development of applications that reflect the business specifications;
  • Develop the integration of multiple information systems or modules into corporate solutions;

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and skills

  • Good command of coding best practices, software design and architecture patterns;
  • Experience in Agile environments;
  • Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, service oriented bus)

Soft skills

  • Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment;
  • Ability communicate clearly with stakeholders (business and IT) both verbally and in writing;
  • Rapid self-starting capability, self-driven and can-do attitude;
  • Experience and willingness in working in team settings;
  • Ability to contribute in multilingual meetings;
  • Ability to work with a high degree of rigour and method and, more specifically, to follow working standards set by the team and by the EC;
  • Delivering high quality and clean work;
  • As the applications managed and maintained in DIGIT contain personal and confidential data, a high degree of discretion and integrity is required from all our staff members.

REQUIRED SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

More specifically, the required specific expertise includes experience in: 

  • Java, Spring Framework, MVC, Spring Boot and Spring Cloud
  • Service-oriented architecture and web services: RESTful API, JSON, SOAP
  • Web related technologies HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, Ajax, JQuery, YAML , XML, XSLT
  • Oracle RDBMS and related DB technologies Hibernate and JPA
  • Experience with application servers Oracle WebLogic and Apache Tomcat

Desirable:

  • DevOps environment with CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud (more specifically AWS) and containerised environments (Docker or Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with microservices and related development techniques
  • Experience using OpenID, SAML, CAS
  • Experience with OpenAPI and Swagger
  • Experience with data querying patterns (CQRS, GrapthQL)
  • Java testing frameworks: Junit, Mockito
  • Messaging JMS, AMQP and STOMP
  • Git and ideally Eclipse
  • Apache Kafka
  • Apache Solr or Elastic Search
  • Atlassian suite: Confluence, Bamboo, Jira, Nexus…
  • Experience with Technical infrastructure of EU institutions (EU Login, CNS, eUI) would be an advantage;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant studies after the secondary school (2 years of professional experience can compensate 1 year of study)
  • Minimum 11 years of relevant experience with the technologies described above.
