We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technology Expert, based in Brussels.

Role Responsibility

The key person will be responsible for:

• Provision of expert advice and assistance on the installation, configuration  and tuning of tools and platforms required for the "Compass Corporate"  microservices based infrastructure. These include: Kafka, Prometheus,  Grafana, Elastic Search, Zookeeper, Rundeck, Ansible, Redis.  

• Provision of expert advice on the best use of public cloud platforms such as  Amazon AWS and container platforms such as PKS. 

• Provision of expert advice and assistance on the configuration and tuning of  the Java Enterprise / Weblogic Server infrastructure.  

• Configuration of automated deployment of new versions of applications. This  could be to microservice-based platforms running on in-house VMs, to the  “on-prem cloud” using PKS containers, to the Amazon AWS public cloud or  to in-house Weblogic environments.  

• Configuration of automation and configuration management tools such as  Rundeck and Ansible.  

• Configuration of container platforms such as PKS.  

• Linux systems administration tasks and scripting.  

• Integration with CI/CD systems and execution of Bamboo plans.  i) Diagnosis of software problems, co-ordination with the development teams  and support teams. Working very closely with senior developers and  architects.  

• Developing tools (using java, scripting languages) for the automation of  processes, the monitoring of performance and availability of applications and  for the pro-active detection of problems.  

• Documentation of operational procedures and compilation of guidelines and  "best practice" regarding the delivery of applications for deployment. 

Successful Candidate

The key person should have:

• A very good understanding of Java microservice architectures and  Springboot type infrastructure.  

• A very good understanding of Java Enterprise application servers such as  “Oracle Weblogic”  

• A good understanding of container platforms such as PKS.  

• A good understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS).  

• Expertise in some of the following: Kafka, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic  Search, Zookeeper Rundeck, Ansible, Redis, Mongo DB.  

• A very good understanding of Java Enterprise frameworks and development.  

• Ability to do hands-on java development if required would be advantageous.  

• A good understanding of Oracle databases.  

•  Good knowledge of scripting languages such as WLST, Python,  Unix/Linux shell scripting.
