We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technology Expert, based in Brussels.

 

Role Responsibility

The key person will be responsible for:

  •  Provision of advice and assistance, architectural considerations, solution patterns and best practices with a view on integration of new tools and modules into DGT’s application landscape.

  •  Analysis of requirements, elaboration of functional and non-functional technical requests to the development team.

  •  Assistance to the Project Management and support staff with analysis of production issues and advice and assistance on the elaboration of specific solutions.

  •  Provision of studies, assessments, technical guidance and evaluations.

  •  Review of Information Systems Architectures.

  •  Carry out or support the analysis of malfunctions of tools and elaborate solutions/workarounds.

  •  Assistance in testing, evaluation and reporting;

  •  Elaboration of written documentation. 

  •  Quality assurance of new modules/developments.

Successful Candidate

The key person should have:

  • Experience in the domain of language and translation applications and in software engineering.

  •  Practical experience with translation workflow and linguistic tools.

  •  Successful studies on Master’s level or 5 years of higher education.

  •  Minimum 13 years of practical experience as an IT professional.

  •  Experience in IT Project Management and IT User Support

  •  Experience with Architecture and Design of mission-critical IT systems

  •  Capability to work in a structured way and to communicate with users, developers and support staff.

  •  Strong analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure and to deliver to tight deadlines.

  •  Ability to participate in multi-lingual meeting, good communication skills.

  •  Strong technical background in the area of web technologies, XML formats in the field of translation and localisation (sdlxliff, tmx, tbx, xliff) and in the field of legislative and judiciary documents (akoma ntoso)

  •  Practical experience with computer aided translation tools (SDL Studio), web content management and translation workflow systems.

  •  Proven capability to carry out technical troubleshooting and error analysis.

  •  Fluent in English, able to understand French.
