For the EU Commission in Brussels we are looking for a Technology Expert with​ at least 3 years of relevant work experience.  

Role Responsibility

The person providing the services subject of this request must be expert in a wide range of technologies and able to provide advice and assistance in the development of specific applications (web portals, Windows client and mobile apps) and their databases, assistance in security assessments provided by the JRC LISO (Local Informatics Security Officer) of the Unit's information systems, elaboration of technical analysis documents.

Immediate subject of these activities will be:

- Support and improvement of the current data portal of the European Cancer Information System, based on a PHP/Symfony software and an Oracle back-end and, implementing a file exchange system between the JRC and the cancer registries.

- Assistance and advice on the IT infrastructure (iOS and Android apps plus the back-end infrastructure) of the Social Biking app project.

- Elaboration of requirements and implementation of the new version of the European Cancer Information System, to integrate the complete path of data acquisition, data check, data processing and publication of results, activities at present disconnected. The person must have a very good knowledge and experience in developing, designing system architectures and discuss user requirements, very good experience in designing and producing technical documentation, a wide experience in different IT tools

The person must be able to communicate with the project stakeholders in English language both spoken and written.

Specific expertise

The technical expert person, in addition to the general technical skills foreseen for his profile, must have a long and wide experience in the main technologies we are using, and in related management tools.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of the general skills required:

- Windows server and Linux server

- PHP, Javascript, JQuery, HTML

- Design of multi-tier applications

- Development of Windows client applications

- Major relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server)

- Experience in handling/processing/exchanging data files (CSV, XML, JSON)

Specific experience required:

- Oracle database

- MongoDB

- MySQL

- Java

- Visual Studio, .NET and C#

- PHP and frameworks: Symfony, Slim

- Development of mobile apps development in both iOS and Android, with Java, Xcode and NativeScript
