Job Introduction
We are seeking a Sustainability Strategy Intern !
This role will focus on analysing innovative urban transformation models, identifying best practices, and supporting the design of strategies that advance Serco’s mission in building greener, energy-positive, and inclusive European cities. The consultant will assist in mapping key stakeholders, conducting socio-economic and governance analyses, and integrating scalable solutions across multiple European contexts.
The outcome of this position is to provide strategic insights, strengthen Serco’s role within the PROBONO consortium, and contribute to the creation of actionable models that guide policymakers and stakeholders in the transition toward sustainable urban ecosystems.
This internship opportunity will be available for multiple candidates and will officially open upon confirmation of the PROBONO project award to Serco, with the final decision expected in the near future.
Main Responsibilities
- Support Serco in developing strategic frameworks and conceptual models for the PROBONO project, aimed at advancing the transition of European cities toward greener and more sustainable futures.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of plans and models that facilitate the transformation of existing urban areas into modern, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible neighbourhoods.
- Identify, integrate, and adapt innovative solutions from across Europe to ensure their scalability and applicability in diverse regional contexts.
- Conduct analyses of multi-level governance systems to strengthen coordination among local, national, and European institutions.
- Perform financial and socio-economic assessments to evaluate the project’s value and impact on a wide range of stakeholders.
- Develop clear, actionable guidelines and operational strategies to support decision-makers in implementing sustainable urban initiatives efficiently.
- Collaborate with project partners to ensure alignment across economic, social, and environmental objectives within the broader transition framework.
Successful Candidate
- Studying or interested in topics like sustainability, economics, public policy, or urban development.
- Curious about how cities can become greener and more energy-efficient.
- Good at research, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Able to write and speak clearly in English (other European languages are a plus).
- Open-minded, motivated, and enjoys working on real projects that help the environment and communities.
