Solution architect

Job Introduction

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing, developing and leading end-to-end solutions for public services.  Supporting our customers in defence, health, justice and immigration delivering a range of services from IT, Facilities Management, high-end engineering to scientific support. The role involves translating customer requirements to  solutions from initial concept through to the bid proposal. The Solution Lead is a senior individual with the presence to assure client outcomes. They will possess a proven track record in developing large, complex solutions across business sectors, delivering winning innovative solutions. The individual will weave Serco’s differentiating capabilities, innovative partner solutions and customer needs into an end-to-end solution, building both internal and external relationships to ensure successful bid outcomes. They will have exceptional skills in managing senior stakeholder relationships across the Serco business and with clients and partners.

The Solution Architect must have a track record in developing complex technical solutions for this role.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Responsible for defining, agreeing and articulating the overall end to end solution, including the operational solution and transition and transformation approach.
  • Works with bid team members to develop the commercial, financial, legal, partners / suppliers parts of the solution.
  • Draws on cross Group expertise and partners / suppliers, as required, to ensure alignment to overall bid objectives and good commercial practice.
  • Leads teams subject matter experts, understanding and articulating the business and technical solution (to a level), providing direction and delegating effectively.
  • Leads customer dialogue sessions, building a rapport with key stakeholders at C level.
  • Assesses the costs and benefits of the solution to ensure it offers the best value and meets the client budget.
  • Manages relationships with partners and suppliers to negotiate deals for Serco and ensure the commercial arrangement and technical solution meets Serco needs and goals.
  • Leads the management of stakeholders to gain underwriting sign off, including the review of costed risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies for the solution.

Successful Candidate

Essential qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Systems Engineering/Solution or Enterprise Architecture qualifications desirable
  • MBA desirable, although not essential.

Essential Experience

  • Has led the development of complex innovative solutions, leading multi-disciplinary teams including partners / suppliers
  • Has led the development of propositions prior to the detailed engagement with a customers.
  • Has led customer dialogue sessions at C level.
  • Is experienced in writing compelling customer proposals and presentations.
