Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Solaris Expert on our prestige customer site in central Frankfurt, Germany.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide 3rd level support for operational FAME infrastructure. Identify any need for preventive or remedial maintenance throughout the use of diagnostic tools.
  • Investigate,  diagnose  and  resolve  system  problems  using  available  tools  and  referring  to external suppliers if required.
  • Development  of  the customer's  FAME  infrastructure  harvesting  best  practises  and  tailoring  to  the customer specific.
  • Documenting  installation  and  operational  procedures  for  deployment  by  Data  Centre Operations.
  • Plan, prepare and document maintenance activities such as software upgrades and patching.
  • Contribute to the development of IT solutions in production by advising on the impact of planned changes, assisting Data Centre Operations in roll-out and post implementation.
  • Maintain  accurate  and  up-to-date  technical  documentation  related  to  the customer's  FAME infrastructure.  Transfer  knowledge  to  colleagues  and  ensure  adequate  documentation  is available.

Successful Candidate

10+ years of relevant experience:

  • Bachelor’s  degree  in  information  technology,  computer science, information system security, or related disciplines
  • Engineering and design experience
  • Expert  in  engineering,  design,  support,  administration  and  maintenance  of  mission  critical production Linux and Solaris server systems (Solaris shall include at least Solaris 10).
  • Expert  in  engineering,  design,  support,  administration  and  maintenance  of  mission  critical production  Solaris  virtualization  technologies.  Knowledge  of  Oracle  VM  for  SPARC  (LDOMS) and Solaris Zones.
  • Expert  in  engineering,  design,  support,  administration  and  maintenance  of  mission  critical production  Solaris  Cluster  systems  (Solaris  Cluster  includes  at  least  Solaris  3.X  family  of products).
  • Experience with Volume Managers for HA Solaris deployments (SVM and ZFS).
  • A good command of English with proven drafting ability.

Additional desirable technical competencies:

  • Excellent  knowledge  of  shell  scripting  in  Unix  in  at  least  one  language  (e.g.  Bash,  Korn,  or PERL).
  • Experience with Solaris 11.X 
  • Experience with Solaris Cluster 4.X
  • Experience with Software Integration
  • Familiarity  with  software  packaging  in  Solaris  environments  (at  least  Solaris  10  System  V package format).
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g. ORACLE)
  • Familiarity with Apache Tomcat
