Serco is seeking candidates to be integrated within our team supporting the European Space Agency providing specialized software development and maintenance services and tools to access and retrieve observations and data from ESA's space science missions.
Role Responsibility
As Software Developer you will concentrate your activities on the following:
- Analysis of science archives requirements
- Design and architecture of science archives
- Coding and unit testing of back-end and/or front-end archival solutions
- Generation of automated End2End tests
- Ingestion and verification of scientific data
- Operations and monitoring of scientific archives deployed services
- Interface with the local Science IT Unit for any matters regarding the science archives
- Participate to mission reviews
Successful Candidate
- Software development experience in Java and Python programming languages
- Experience with Angular, Javascript, HTML, css
- Continuous integration/deployment (Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Ansible)
- SVN, git repositories and project management software JIRA and Confluence
- Agile, SCRUM and DevOps practices
- End2End test automation technologies (Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber)
- Experience working with Linux Operating Systems
- Desirable knowledge of VO standards like TAP
- Desirable knowledge in Astropy and GWT
- Knowledge in Machine Learning and Science and/or ESA science missions would be an asset
