Job Introduction

The company also offers vast experience to a huge number of IT and space markets including: central governments, defence organisations, the aerospace industry and commercial companies.
For supporting satellite data exploitation activities, we are currently looking for a Senior Remote Sensing Specialist, skilled expert in Remote Sensing Earth Observation and GIS management to join our team in Frascati, Italy. Through this task the candidate shall contribute to Serco activities related to the IRIDE services and similar projects. Serco is involved in various IRIDE activities including services related to the generation of forest fire scar maps and fire damage index maps.
Main Responsibilities
The position is for a specialist in EO remote sensing with at least 8 years’ experience in the field of data exploitation, geospatial products analysis and algorithm development. Experience in project management is an asset.
As Senior Remote Sensing Specialist you will be responsible for:
- Support Serco to manage the IRIDE Services products.
- Design and implementation of webGIS solutions for geospatial products, particularly the IRIDE products.
- Support to algorithm design/development of forest fires prevention tasks.
- Analysis of geospatial products related to forest fires mapping.
- Participation to projects related to earth/environment monitoring/mapping based on satellite optical and SAR data.
- Participation to project meetings and reviews.
- Supporting documentation writing.
Successful Candidate
Your skills:
- The successful applicant will hold a university degree in Physics, Remote Sensing or similar, have an in-depth knowledge of satellite remote sensing (optical and SAR), image analysis, GIS technology and applications and programming. Demonstrated capabilities in EO data processing and applications experience are sought.
- Experience in multi-source data integration.
- Experience in algorithm development related to feature extraction, selection and classification from satellite data.
- Experience in machine learning techniques.
- Experience with data Science tools (e.g. Python, R, SQL, Matlab, C++).
- Experience in sentinel data processing.
- Scientific and application project management.
- Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).
Other Skills:
- Good technical and analytical skills.
- Good documentation writing skills.
- Ability to manage several tasks in parallel and to prioritise .
- Capability to work in a team.
- Pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution .
