Job Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Network Engineer to join our team.
Main Responsibilities
Background
The engineer will support the MADAP which is the data centre of MUAC and provides data processing and display capabilities to these local operational services, and also remotely to the Belgian Air Force.
Within MUAC, the NET Team is responsible for all LAN & WAN infrastructure and Network IT Security Systems. It faces sustained high levels of workload due to several complex projects requiring LAN and/or WAN connectivity, activities aiming at the timely replacement of obsolete hence unsupported IT equipment.
Desired Profile
EUROCONTROL requires 1 full-time assistant to assist internal staff.
- Identify malfunctioning hardware and/or software for the purpose of implementing necessary corrective actions, resolving technical problems and provide ongoing support to the end-users of the operational MADAP networks and non-operational OFFICE network
- Perform primary network system administration on network and IT Network Security equipment
- Assist in the design, development, configuration, installation and maintenance of network systems
- Conduct analyses and testing of network systems for the purpose of documenting findings and ensuring efficiency
- Create utilities for the purpose of automating repetitive and daily routines
- Implement new network operating systems and application software for the purpose of ensuring compliance with licensing, patches and updates according to vendor and/or IT security guidelines
- Monitor LAN/WAN Infrastructure for the purpose of measuring performance and/or ensuring the secure and reliable operation of all MADAP networks and its Network Security Infrastructure.
- Drafting of TE2 documentation, e.g. Build state documents, Test documentation, Version documentation, Baseline Documentation in accordance with the Maastricht Management System
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the NET Team
Successful Candidate
Educational requirements
Mandatory:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,
- Telecommunications).
- Cisco CCNP accredited
Language Requirements:
Mandatory
English language (Listening/Writing/Understanding) level- C1/B2/B2
Technical/professional qualification
Mandatory:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in networking and IT security technology
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience with following brands: CISCO, CHECKPOINT and FORTINET
- Detailed knowledge of data communication protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, FTP...), Routing, Switching, proven by minimum 2 practical cases of experience.
- Knowledge of Quality of Service and experience designing/implementing QoS in an enterprise environment proven by minimum 1 practical experience case as an example.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience with design concepts in LAN/WAN.
Desirable:

- Practical experience with GIGAMON (minimum 2 years)
- Minimum one year experience with wireless products
- At least one year experience with Network management systems
- At least one experience year experience with network management tools and SIEM. (e.g. Elastic Flow, Spectrum & Splunk)
- At least one experience in a project environment, quality/security standards, configuration management & tools
- Good knowledge of MS Office tools Word, Excel, Visio.
- Ability to draft clear and concise technical papers in English
Experience/skills required
- Minimum of 5 years relevant mandatory experience in networking and IT security technology: practical experience in network troubleshooting is essential on network equipment together with experience in the field of hardware installation, system integration, testing and servicing activities. Other requirements (personal characteristics)
- Experience working in a multi-cultural team proven with at least one reference case
- Autonomy: ability to deliver quality output with minimum guidance
- Motivation and commitment to deliver under tight time constraints
- Good interpersonal and team-working skills
- Ability to communicate technical details clearly and succinctly to peers and to management
- Result-driven, readiness to change, customer focus, integrity and team player approach
- Multitasking and Analytical Skills
- The languages of the Agency are English and French. For this post candidates must have a good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Dutch/German would be an advantage.
