Job Introduction

We are hiring a Senior Architect for the European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.
Main Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
Lead the design of enterprise and cloud-native architectures (TOGAF, microservices, multi-tier applications).
Transition legacy monoliths to microservices, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Apply architectural frameworks, design patterns, and best practices.
Development & Implementation
Drive hands-on development with Java (Spring Boot), Angular (2+), and related frameworks.
Design and develop APIs (REST, SOAP) and integration solutions.
Support database design and optimization (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Redis).
Cloud & DevSecOps
Build and deploy cloud-native applications using containers, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Apply security best practices (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Vault, Consul).
Guide teams in DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD automation, and architecture enforcement.
Integration & Messaging
Implement event-driven architectures, messaging solutions (Kafka, MOM, ESB), and orchestration.
Ensure interoperability across services and domains.
Quality, Monitoring & Optimization
Define and enforce quality standards through testing, code reviews, and architecture-as-code.
Implement monitoring and observability tools (Dynatrace, ElasticSearch, Grafana).
Drive continuous improvement in performance, resilience, and maintainability.
Leadership & Collaboration
Act as a technical leader, mentoring developers and architects.
Communicate complex designs and decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.
Facilitate workshops, document architecture, and ensure alignment with business needs.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree
RELEVANT CERTIFICATES

• TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
• ITIL Foundation / ITIL 4 Certifications
• Certified Software Architect (IASA Global)
• Certified DevSecOps Professional (CDP)
• Oracle Certified Professional : Java SE Programmer
• Spring Professional Certification
• Certified Angular Developer
• Certified Cloud Security Professional
• Certified OAuth 2.0 Specialist
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- At least 10 years of experience with Architecture Design
- Including experience with architecture design patterns, enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), and multi-tier application design.
- At least 10 years of experience with Micro-services
- Experience with microservices design, event-driven architecture, eventual consistency, and transitioning from monolith to microservices.
- At least 10 years of experience with Cloud Native applications
- Design and development of cloud-native solutions leveraging containerization, orchestration, and scalable cloud services.
- At least 10 years of experience with Java/JEE
- o Strong experience with Java frameworks including Spring Boot; migrations across Java versions.
- At least 5 years of experience with Angular 2 plus
- Experience with Angular 2+ (preferably Angular 18), modern UI paradigms, and client-side scripting.
- At least 5 years of experience with Cloud DevSecOps
- o Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization (Docker), service discovery (Consul), secrets management (Vault), and security frameworks (OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
- At least 5 years of experience with Cloud & Container Services
- Experience with container orchestration, CaaS, and cloud infrastructure management.
- At least 5 years of experience with Architecture Enforcement & Review
- Experience enforcing architectural decisions at the pull request level and implementing architecture-as-code practices.
- At least 5 years of experience with Observability/Monitoring Tools
- Use of Dynatrace, ElasticSearch, and Grafana for performance monitoring and logging.
