Security infrastructure architect (SIA)

We are hiring a Security infrastructure architect (SIA) for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Role Responsibility

As a Security infrastructure architect (SIA) you will be responsible for:

  • Focus on integrating end point security solutions with strong knowledge of network infrastructure
  • Participating in the security aspects of the design and architecture of the Digital Work Place and particularly in terms of the provision of secure internet connectivity for all the field offices, for the headquarters and for our cloud solutions
  • IT Project management for Echofield-wide workplace infrastructure projects
  • Expert advice, assistance and technology watch in network management, architectural considerations, applicable standards, solution patterns and best practices in the ICT infrastructure domain of DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations
  • Risk analysis and review of the network infrastructure (technical design, long-term, reliable & adaptative technical solutions)
  • Preparation of the equipment to be setup & shipped to final destinations around the world.
  • Interaction with the users, DIGIT infrastructure and security services, other internal DGECHO development teams

Successful Candidate

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Following skills and knowledge are required for the performance of the above listed tasks:

  • If the acquired master is related to IT studies with proven Network specificities, entry level of experience (internship, practices…) could be accepted.
  • Good knowledge of DNS and DHCP principles.
  • Good knowledge of secure network connectivity (VPN connections).
  • Good knowledge of network monitoring tools.
  • Good knowledge of VOIP & Unified Communications.
  • Experience in the IT Infrastructure management in a large organisation or company
  • Experience with firewall systems
  • Experience in the elaboration and implementation of Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Experience in the elaboration of security guidelines and procedures
  • Knowledge of PKI and Encryption solutions.
  • Experience in integrations with cloud services (e.g. O365, Azure)
  • Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working; proactive attitude,
    communicative and customer-oriented.
  • Experience in providing services for multi-country structures including developing countries is considered an advantage.
  • Good organization, coordination and planning skills with a high degree of drive and desire to empower ICT change and evolution

Due to the particular nature of a large international organisation such as the European Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:

  • Working in DG ECHO and for ECHOFIELD offices spread all over the world in a multilingual & multicultural diversified environment:
    • English advanced both written and oral (C1 LEVEL)
    • Advanced knowledge of French is seen as an asset (C1 level)
    • Team player with appropriate social and communication skills.
    • High degree of discretion and integrity is required as the applications managed and maintained in DG ECHO contain personal and confidential data

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE
Following specific expertise is mandatory for the performance of tasks:

  • Experience in networking technologies, proxy services, load balancing/failover…
  • Experience in installation and configuration of network components and particular with Cisco and/or Meraki brands
  • Experience in monitoring of network resources
  • IT service continuity management
  • Good knowledge of security management of the network against internal and external attacks
  • Experience with network access management and authentication principles
  • Experience with remote working solutions based on VPN access.

CERTIFICATIONS & STANDARDS:
Following certificates & standards are required for the performance of tasks:

  • Cisco CCNA Certifications or equivalent
