Communication Officers, supported by a comprehensive training programme will deliver the day to day activities related to enquiry handling. Based on the analysis of current statistics around 33% of the work is related to telephone enquiries and over 60% of the work is based on email enquiries – The majority of the training is delivered internally but will include external training provided by DG Comm.

We work with just two interns at any time, they are supported by a team of 21 Communication officers, 6 Supervisors, an in-house Trainer and higher Management team.

Job Introduction


Communi-K, based in central Brussels is a consortium comprising of Serco and Tipik Communication Agency – We are pleased to offer two internships to multi-lingual students/graduates (Training allowance offered).

EDCC – Europe Direct Contact Centre - a general information service provided by the European Commission - the executive body of the European Union responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU. DG Comm is the directorate responsible for all external communications. The requirement is to provide services for the operation of the Europe Direct contact Centre.

EDCC main task is to answer questions from citizens and businesses on the European Union's activities and policies via telephone, email and other channels - Communi-K will provide coverage in all 24 official EU languages.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

Initially you will experience a number of workplace sessions and technical training, these focus on workplace skills including: teamwork, communication and commercial awareness.

Along with an induction to Communi-K you will also gain an in depth understanding of EDCC & DG Comm.

We also operate a ‘Buddy’ system which means that from the first day you will assigned to an experienced Supervisor who will help you settle into life at Communi-K, introduce you to your colleagues and ensure you are trained and capable of providing contractual support and translation expertise to the existing team of Communication Officers in the future.

Your progress will also be overseen by the Team Lead and on-site Trainer who will meet with you on your first day in the office to set your objectives and continuously monitor your progress over the six month term, they will also be responsible for your final review process.

Main Responsibilities

Communications Officer Interns provide back office contractual support, including translation services.

Successful Candidate

EXPERIENCE

  • EU related/ EU traineeship - or equivalent of studies
  • Great knowledge of EU policies and Institutions

EDUCATION

  • Master Student (on last phase) - preferably EU related.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The working language of EDCC is English, proficiency is required to minimum C1 level.

A combination of at least two of the following other EU languages are also required at minimum C1 level: French, Spanish, Italian & German
