For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Space Robotics Operations Engineer.
Main Responsibilities
Tasks and Responsibilities
As Space Robotics Operations Engineer you will report to the head of the Robotics and Future Projects office, in the Directorate of the Human Spaceflight and Operations.
The duties of this post will include:
- Operations engineering for the European Robotic Arm and Meteron* projects, and for future projects such as technology demonstrations on ISS;
- Liaise with EAC, GCTC and RSC Energia for instructor and crew training issues, including maintenance of the ERA Astronaut Training Database (ATD);
- Software management and/or rapid software prototyping for the projects in the office;
- Logistics organisation for ERA integration and launch campaign, Meteron experiments and test campaigns in analogue sites (field tests);
- Support the development of specific qualification and / or (ISS) flight demonstrations of technology items needed for human exploration;
- Performance of system definition studies for future human exploration developments;
- Support the Office and Division in other tasks as required.

Successful Candidate
Requirements
As successful candidate you should bring a Master degree, at least 4 years of professional experience and the following:
- Experience in space operations;
- Knowledge of the International Space Station Programme;
- Robotics engineering knowledge;
- System and Software engineering experience;
- Capability to work in a team with other ESA organizations as well as with external partners;
- Candidates should be rigorous, have good communication skills and be able to transfer technical know-how in a clear and concise manner;
- The post holder will be called upon to travel outside Europe (e.g. Russia).
