The unit provides support to a broad range of policy areas related to chemicals including industrial and household chemicals, cosmetics, food, plant protection products, endocrine disrupters and chemical mixtures .IPCHEM, the Information Platform for Chemical Monitoring, is the European Commission’s single access point for searching, accessing and retrieving chemical occurrence data. The web platform has been developed to fill the knowledge gap on chemical exposure and its burden on health and the environment in EU. It aims to support a more coordinated approach in EU for collecting, harmonising, storing and disseminating data related to the occurrences of chemicals and chemical mixtures, in relation to the environment and humans. IPCHEM is structured into four thematic modules, according to the chemical monitoring data categorisation: Environmental monitoring, Human Biomonitoring, Food and Feed, Products and Indoor Air.
IS Tester you will be responsible for:
The consultant should have at least 4 years of experience in testing web applications: they should be able to translate user interface functionalities into test cases, and to automate them by using the Selenium IDE tool. The assigned tasks will start from a sound understanding of the existing IPCHEM user interface and the development of a comprehensive test plan. It will continue by supporting the verification and validationof the system changes, to introduce new functionalities and improve usability. The activity of writing the test plan and the test cases is expected to produce a clear documentation of all the relevant user-to-system interactions and then to create the skeleton for the user manuals well. A test-first general approach is envisaged, to guide up-front the design and implementation of the new functionalities; these will address well defined and scoped business needs documented through case studies by the IPCHEM scientific and chemical policy experts.

Successful Candidate
- Proven knowledge of web testing methodology, possible tools and related technologies (e.g.Selenium IDE, HTML, CSS, XPath, JavaScript, JSON, XML);
- Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team;
- Good communication skills;
- Aptitudes in reporting;
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments;
- Capability to persevere in retesting solutions;
- Ability in writing user documentation (English)
