As Project Engineer you will be responsible for:
Objective of the activity:
Support the customer in planning, coordination and delivery of Earth Observation projects, ensuring timely achievement of milestones, quality of deliverables, and alignment with objectives. The role encompasses successful coordination of industry partners and collaboration between technical teams and external stakeholders.
Inputs:
- Customer constraints and requirements, user needs, stakeholder expectations
- Funding and contractual frameworks, including Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Project documentation (requirements specification, architecture design, interface control documents, V&V plans)
- Project progress reports, risk registers and KPIs
Outputs:
- Tender documentation and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Detailed project plans, schedules, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Technical deliverables, design documents, review packages
- Progress reports, risk registers, and KPIs
- Presentations, stakeholder communications
Activities:
- Produce SOWs and tender documentation according to customer requirements
- Define project scope, deliverables, milestones
- Coordinate industry partners and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams including engineers, software developers, scientists, and external partners
- Monitor project progress, KPIs, schedules and budgets
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks
- Organize and lead technical and progress meetings, workshops, formal reviews and deliver presentations as needed
- Review technical documentation produced by industry partners to ensure requirements are correctly addressed
- Coordinate user validation and acceptance of the produced services and act as a link between the users and the technical team for the resolution of identified issues
- Coordinate the application of systems engineering methods and techniques
Required location
Serco applies smart working policy. The successful candidate can be requested to be occasionally on-site at the customer's premises.
Successful Candidate
Your skills:
- University degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a related technical field
- Strong project management, planning, scheduling, and risk management capabilities
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and coordination skills
- Solid understanding of systems engineering methodologies and of the system/software development life cycle
- Experience in verification & validation planning and execution
- Strong reporting and documentation skills, with experience producing technical deliverables and presentations
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Earth Observation domain
- Familiarity with AI and ability to integrate technical innovation into project roadmaps
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with MBSE tools and model-based approaches for architecture and requirement management
- Knowledge of UML and SysUML
