Role Responsibility

Duties and Responsibilities: 

-Overall end-to-end realtime  monitoring and operations for ESA Earth Explorers Live Missions, ESA Heritage Missions, ESA Third Party Missions;

-Investigate and understand root causes for issues in operations;

-Watch carefully for operational problems by studying performance results and systems functioning and ways to apply improvements to optimize processes;

-Develop corrective actions to solve the operations issues;

-Support the start-up and integration of new operations projects;

-Create scripts enabling the automation of standard tasks;

-Managing system and application incidents in order to fixing the system and to restore the service as soon as possible;

-Managing system and application problems in order to locate the underlying root causes to prevent incidents from re-occurring;

-Software Change and Release Management;

-Software Integration and validation activities;

-Software Installation and operational verification;

-Data Transformation (i.e. conversion to standard Satellite formats);

-Ensure the Satellite Data Dissemination to end users;

-Establish, document and maintain operational procedures;

-Collect, analyze and summarize engineering and operating trends and data;

Successful Candidate

Technical skills:
-Excellent Shell Scripting 
-Python and PHP programming
-Knowledge of the Java Suite 
-Knowledge of HTML and XML
-Linux (Mainly Red Hat and CentOS)
-Knowledge of DBs technology: MySQL; ORACLE; PostgreSQL; SQL
-Familiarity with Storage technologies
-Good Networking technology knowledge
-Familiarity with Cloud technologies
-Requirements Definition and Analysis
-Good English Technical Writing 
-Familiarity with ESA ECSS standards
-Project Planning 
-Reporting 
-Knowledge of Satellite products' standards is an asset 

Personal Skills:
-Fluent in English Language (written and spoken)
-Good communications skills
-Capacity of working in team
-Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones
-Capacity of working under pressure

Experience:

• 5 years of experience in programming and scripting
• 2 years of experience in ESA infrastructures 

Preferable:
ITIL Certification (≥V3)
English Certification (≥ B1)
