For our activities in ESRIN, we are currently looking for a Mission Planner to work for Aeolus mission.

Role Responsibility

The main activities will include:

- Planning preparation activities:

  • Monitoring the availability of input data for planning preparation;
  • Executing the generation of input data for planning, monitoring the correctness of outputs and circulating data to destination;
  • Circulating input data for planning to FOS team;
  • Generation and Provision of specific PDGS monitoring information, and reporting to ESA.

- Systematic X-Band Station Downlink Planning and delivery to X-Band station provider:

  • Monitoring the availability of input data for downlink planning activities;
  • Executing the generation of downlink plans, monitoring the correctness of outputs and circulating planning files systematically to X-band station provider;
  • Circulating planning files to X-band station provider;
  • Generation and Delivery of operational reporting;

- Systematic Generation of Payload Operation Plans and Delivery to FOS:

  • Monitoring the availability of input data for planning activities;
  • Executing the generation of plans, monitoring the correctness of outputs;
  • Circulating planning files systematically to FOS team;
  • Generation and Provision of specific PDGS monitoring information, and reporting to ESA.

- Data Flow Monitoring and Data Archival Management:

  • Execute and Monitor the data ingestion and archival into the MMPF archive;
  • Archive operations: Deletion or extraction of data from the MMPF archive;
  • Generation and Delivery of operational reporting.

- End- to end mission planning verification.

- Support to validation activities and TTO planning.

Successful Candidate

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline, preferably in Earth Observation or Computer Science;
  • Experience on Payload Data Ground segment architecture and/or operations;
  • Capacity to acquire in depth technical understanding and knowledge of PDGS systems (overall architecture, data flows, interfaces, dependencies) in a limited time;
  • Experience with configuration management, change control and release management;
  • Pro-activeness , good communication skills, team player;
  • Experience/knowledge on mission planning systems;
  • EO Sensor Instrument knowledge;
  • Basic knowledge of the Aeolus instrument (ALADIN) operational modes, parameters and constraints is an asset;
  • Capacity to generate good documentation;
  • Fluent in English.
