Job Introduction

We provide tailored services for various public sector bodies including European Institutions, the Belgian and German Defence, the European Space Agency, and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). We are currently in search of a Junior Policy Communications Specialist to join our team in Brussels.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of EU policy, particularly in the areas of immigration, defence, and public services. Reporting directly to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs Europe, the Policy Communications Specialist will be accountable for translating intricate policy information into clear and concise messaging for a variety of audiences.

Responsibilities;

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of EU policy, particularly in the areas of immigration, defence, and public services
  • Align research and briefing work with corporate and business objectives
  • Translate intricate policy information into clear, succinct, and easily understandable messaging.
  • Develop stakeholder maps, stakeholder engagement plans, and event attendance calendars.
  • Work closely with the Head of Communications and External Affairs to develop and implement communication strategies.
  • Write and edit policy briefs, reports, and other policy communication materials.
  • Monitor and analyse policy developments and trends, and provide regular briefings to senior management.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, conferences, and other events.
  • Ensure all communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with the organisation's values and objectives.
  • Ad hoc administrative and communications work

Successful Candidate

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, International Relations, EU affairs or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in policy communication, preferably in a EU institution or in the field of immigration, defence, or public services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in French, German, or Dutch is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of Member State policy landscape is a plus (Germany, Italy, France, Belgium)
  • Knowledge of immigration policies across Europe and/or defence is beneficial.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with more general communications.
