Job Introduction

We are hiring a Interface Designer for European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.

Main Responsibilities

Design Systems Expertise:

  • Proven expertise in designing and working with Design Systems, demonstrating a deep understanding of creating, maintaining, and scaling cohesive and efficient design frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to document design guidelines clearly for team collaboration.
  • Very strong communication skills and ability to advocate for design best practices across teams.

Digital Product Design and UX:

  • Design work on digital solutions, ensuring UX/UI consistency and enhancing user interactions.
  • Execute end-to-end product design, from wireframing and prototyping to final UI design, ensuring designs align with business needs and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive digital product experiences.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and brainstorming sessions to gather inputs and validate design concepts.
Product Owner Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the product management team to define and prioritize the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with user and business needs.
  • Guide feature development from concept to execution, ensuring user feedback and usability testing inform the final product.
  • Oversee the launch of digital products, coordinating efforts between solution teams.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure digital solutions meet both user requirements and business objectives.
User-Centric Digital Solutions:
  • Drive the development of user-centered digital solutions by conducting user research, persona development, and user journey mapping.
  • Apply iterative design processes, including A/B testing and usability testing, to continually refine and optimize digital interfaces.
  • Use UX research tools to gather insights on user interactions and behaviors, translating findings into actionable design improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across departments to ensure seamless integration of UX design into broader business objectives.
  • Provide mentorship to junior UX designers and foster a collaborative design culture within the team.
UX Research and Insights:
  • Lead the research and analysis of user needs, conducting interviews, usability tests, and market research to inform design decisions.
  • Create and manage user personas, ensuring design solutions are tailored to specific audience segments.
  • Leverage data analytics tools to evaluate the performance of digital products and drive continuous improvement of the user experience.

Successful Candidate

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

 Bachelor's or Master's Degree

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Expertise in creating high-fidelity prototypes and wireframes using industry-standard tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch). 
  • Able to turn conceptual ideas into visually compelling, user-friendly interfaces. 
  • Mastery of responsive design techniques to ensure usability across various devices and platforms. 
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining design systems, ensuring consistency across all digital touchpoints. 
  • Proficient in creating and documenting UI components, patterns, and style guides to enhance collaboration between design and development teams. 
  • Strong experience designing user interfaces for complex digital products, focusing on usability, accessibility, and aesthetics. 
  • Skilled in interaction design, enhancing user engagement through interactive elements and animations.
  • Proficient in creating motion graphics to guide user behavior and improve overall user flow. 
  • Expertise in designing for multiple platforms, including web, mobile, and tablet interfaces, ensuring consistent user experiences across all devices. 
  • Strong knowledge of platform-specific design guidelines (e.g., iOS, Android, Web) and ability to adapt designs accordingly. 
  • Strong experience collaborating with front-end developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of UI designs. 
  • Proficient in delivering assets, design specifications, and prototypes to development teams using tools like Zeplin, Figma, and InVision.
  • Adept in designing interfaces that comply with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), ensuring inclusive design for users with disabilities. 
  • Experience running user interface testing, gathering feedback, and iterating designs based on user insights. 
  • Excellent communicator in English, able to communicate the organisations’ strategic vision and goals from an end-user’ point of view.
  • Works closely with Business and cross functional teams to reach desired organisational goals.
  • Project management methodology (Agile, Waterfall) 
  • Prototyping & wireframing tools: Figma, UXpin Axure) 
  • UI design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe) 
  • Analytics Tools (Hotjar,Google Analytics, Dynatrace) 
  • Remote Collaboration (Microsoft Teams, Skype, Zoom, Miro, Slack)
