We are hiring a Infrastructure System Engineer with expertise in cloud solutions and DevOps practice for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Role Responsibility

Nature of tasks

 Practical validation and implementation of the solutions recommended by the Software Architect
 Design, development, tests, documentation, release control, maintenance and technical
support of infrastructure software components and services matching the specifications
 Proof of concept, prototyping of infrastructure solutions
 Technical responsibility for infrastructure development projects
 Assistance and support to software architects and information system developers
 Provision of technical studies, technical expertise, technical evaluations in relation with
information systems infrastructure
 Production of technical documentation
 Assistance with configuration of the system for production deployment and in training
administrators and users
 Participation in meetings within the Commission
 Implement and monitor an AWS/Azure infrastructure
 Implement management and security solutions in AWS/Azure
 Implement solutions for AWS/Azure
 Implement and manage data platforms
 Design AWS/Azure monitoring
 Design AWS/Azure identity and security
 Design AWS/Azure data storage
 Design AWS/Azure business continuity
 Design AWS/Azure infrastructure
 

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and skills

 Up to date know-how in web applications development, apps applications
 Java (JEE) / PHP or other required to perform the tasks correctly
 Relational database management technology
 Component-based and service oriented applications development
 Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments
 Technical redaction skills in English and/or French
 Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communicator
 Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment.
 Expert-level skills in AWS/Azure administration and experience with cloud development and
DevOps practice (Atlassian, Jenkins, Git etc)
 Participate in architectural design/reviews
 Expertise in designing and implementing solutions that run on AWS/Azure, including aspects like compute, network, storage, and security
 Understand AWS/Azure development and DevOps processes and tools
 Advanced-level skills for administering AWS/Azure
 Experience in implementing AWS/Azure solutions
 Advanced experience and knowledge of IT operations, including networking, virtualization,
identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platform
 Advanced knowledge of Windows and Red Hat Linux Server OS
 AWS/Azure scripting capabilities (e.g. PowerShell, Python, AWS CLI, IaC)
 Infrastructure/systems/applications installation by using automation tools (e.g. Jenkins,
Bamboo, etc)
 Cloud certification will be considered as an advantage (e.g. Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS SysOps Administrator)
 Knowledge in virtualization technologies (e.g. containerisation)
 Good knowledge of information systems security
 Considered a plus: database administrator skillset
 Expertise in ITIL and service management tools

Education
Level of education corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework (which
typically corresponds to a bachelor’s level or 3 years of higher education) or an equivalent number of years of IT professional experience as stated in the DIGIT-TM – Service Requirements.

Experience
 Minimum 6 years of IT professional experience
 Minimum 6 years of experience in management of Windows Server and Linux OS
 Minimum 6 years of experience in management of IT infrastructure
 Minimum 2 years of experience in management of cloud technologies (AWS/Azure)
 Minimum 2 years of experience in DevOps practice

Additional requirements
Available within a three months' time frame.

 Team work skills
 Capacity to work in an international/multicultural environment
 Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills
 Competency to write clear and structured technical documents.
 Ability to work with imposed deadlines
 Ability to work independently on specific tasks while at the same time functioning as a member of a project team
 English is considered mandatory, French would be an advantage
