Role Responsibility
The main objective of the role will be to carry out Engineering and Integration, Validation and Verification (IV&V) tasks, supporting EUMETSAT with the development of the CO2M System and the Overall Ground Segment (OGS) to operate and exploit the CO2M mission. The activities will focus on the Mission Data Processing Sub-segment (MDPS), Mission Control & Operations Sub-segment (MCOS) and Overall Ground Segment for the mission.
As IV&V System Engineer you will concentrate your activities on the following:
- System Requirements Definition and Maintenance Process
- Update the requirements in electronic repositories (i.e. DOORS databases)
- Contribute to the generation of the requirements at Sub-segment and Component levels
- Ensure that the traceability of the Sub-segment requirements is properly maintained
- Ground Segment and Sub-segment System & Interface Design
- Prepare System Engineering models and contribute to the design activities of the ground segment
- Perform trade-off studies
- Contribute to the analysis of the ground segment
- Contribute to the selection of the processing H/W target platform and sizing of H/W infrastructure
- Document the design of sub-segment and ground segment and the interfaces
- Contribute to the process of updating the design documentation and interface documentation following the standard review process (RIDs to DDF, DJF and ICDs in SRR, PDR, CDR...)
- Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V)
- Support the preparation and execution of test specification and test procedures for the integration, verification and validation of System, Overall Ground Segment and OGS Sub-segments
- Support the preparation, use and automation of Test Tools and Test Data in support of IVV activities
- Contribute to the planning (including test plans) of test campaigns for integration, verification and validation of System, Overall Ground Segment and OGS Sub-segments
- Contribute to software and hardware configuration deployment, configuration control and verification activities
- Contribute to Anomaly processing activities
- Participate in the test campaigns, contributing to the recording of evidences and anomalies, and the preparation of Verification Control Document (VCD)
- Feed the corporative tools (DOORS, VERDI) with IVV information regarding the trace of test procedures and reports to requirements
- Preparation (or contribution to) of Verification Reports for the requirements with verification methods set to Review of Design, Analysis and Inspection
- Support rehearsals and launch preparation activities, satellite commissioning and system commissioning activities
- Ground Segment and Sub-segment Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
- Contribute to the process of linking engineering information stored in different MBSE tools (typically DOORS, and Enterprise Architect)
- Contribute to the design of the Sub-segments using System Engineering models
- Contribute to the update the System Engineering models to cope with the evolution along the development phase of the design information
- Contribution to CO2M activities, including reviewing requirements and specification for components of the ground segment, as well as reviewing design and interface documentation and IVV documentation developed by external contracts.
Successful Candidate
Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:
- At least 3 years’ proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V) of data processing systems and/or processors, including generation of test plan, test specification, procedures and test reports for end-to end processing chains Knowledge of ECSS Standards
- Experience in writing technical requirements
- Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience in interface management and definition, including familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition and capability to prepare and manage ICD
- Experience with formal testing (FAT/OSAT), including preparation of test procedures, TRRs/TRBs
- Experience of automatic testing environments and test automation to support Integration, Verification and Validation of Ground Segments
- Experience in formal verification control processes (VCBs) and maintenance of VCDs
- Use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering (e.g. SysML) and tools in support of architectural design activities (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
- Experience in operational environments under strict configuration management rules
- Knowledge of Development and maintenance of operational procedures and/or configuration data
- Knowledge of Spacecraft and/or ground segment operations
- Experience with Data Processing systems for earth observation missions
- Knowledge of and/or experience of quality control, calibration and validation
- Experience with Satellite Mission Control systems for earth observation missions
- Experience with Ground Stations and/or EUMETSAT Multi-Mission Elements for archiving, monitoring, data dissemination
- Knowledge of scripting
- Experience with ground segment test data, including reconditioning, change control, and related test tools
- Knowledge of IT/ground segment technologies: relational databases, virtualisation, networking, SW deployment tools, etc.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java and IDL)
